low coolant when cold??

So, whenever i start my car after sitting for a few hours the low coolant light comes on until the car warms up. Ok first thought, cold fluid takes up less space than warm fluid, so i pour come coolant in the filler neck, it didnt take much. Start it up and it still comes on. It seems no matter how full the fluid is the light goes off until the car is warm. Anyone have any ideaS?

The coolant should always be at the top. If coolant is dropping each time you drive it, you either have a small leak or bad pressure cap that prevents the cooling system from reclaiming coolant from the overflow tank as it cools, or you have a bad coolant seal.

i just had this problem and i turned out to be a coolant seal going bad if you still have you ast this can mask the problem some watch for bubbles in the coolant when its running and if you can check for coolant in the rotors

Because the first thing you should try is a new rad cap/caps depending if you still has the air seperator tank or not.
