man, wtf, you'd think a car that originally sold for $40k would have a better interior than this. honda civics have better quality interiors.

'95+(maybe '94 never noticed) seems to have a better interior than that.

Modern civics do, but I wouldn't say 93 civics did. Have you seen the interior of the C5? It looks very cheap, with the same switchgear used on GM's cheapest models. Chevy put the money into the performance of the car. This was Mazda's approach as well.

BTW, 94s and 95s have a passenger side airbag and as a result, have a much better looking passenger side dash. I have no gaps at all with my glovebox. In fact, the only thing I could bitch about the interior would be the quality of the plastics, which is distinctly inferior to my last car -- a 98 Nissan SE-R.

With some time off over the holidays, I finally got around to the 'niggling' things- the 'always on' glove box light, for one.
Rather than take the 'quick-fix' approach, I first removed the glove box door (2 screws), and then the latch (another 2 screws). The latch was never made to be adjusted, so by elongating the 4 holes in the latch (2 are screw holes, and the other 2 are for the plastic locating pins), the latch could now be slid up a small amount. Moving it upwards 1/4 inch allowed the glove box door to close properly, and the light now functions only when the door is open.
While you have the latch out, you'll note it's unfinished metal, so I cleaned it up, primed and refinished it. Not that anybody is ever going to look in there.....
