Gauges?

Hi,
I need to buy myself a gauges over the boost and I want to mount it in the a-pillar.
I have heard that two is better then one so i will mont one more. But which type of gauges is best to have, or shall i mount three?
Please help me to sort out the two or three most important gauges for a RX-7.

Thanks

Best regards

Boost, water temp, EGT or oil temp would be the tops on my list for a stock or near stock FD. But Boost and Water temp would be the most important seeing as how our stock water temp gauge isn't worth shyte. Just my .02, hope it helps. Laterz.

Since your car is fairly stock, and will remain "relatively" stock in the sence it just has some basic bolt ons, I would choose the following FIVE gauges (in order).

- Boost/Vacuum
- Exhaust Gas Temp. (EGT)
- Water Temp.
- Air/Fuel Ratio
- Fuel Pressure

You can get pods from www.autometer.com or on ebay.
Autometer is also one of the most popular brands of gauge out there - tones of guys use them. They aren't top of the line by any means, but they are good for the price.
Check ebay out for gauges and pods. Save yourself 50% (or more) off of store price, and end up with stuff just as good!

Back to the mounting.

Three gauges in the A-pillar, but the rest?

If these are the gauges you decide to get, this is where I would mount them:

A-pillar
Boost/Vacuum
Air/Fuel Ratio

DIN Slot Below CD Player
Exhaust Gas Temp.
Water Temp.
Fuel Pressure

** Note ** if a mechanical fuel pressure gauge is used it MUST be mounted inside engine compartment - this is what most fuel pressure gauges are.

Check out this pic of some DIN mounted gauges

If those are the only mods you will be doing soon, you really only need 2 gauges:

Boost
Water Temp

A/F (especially using the stock O2 sensor) and EGT will be useless to you with that setup. I noticed in your other thread that you were planning on going to a Single turbo setup in the future. At that point, you might look into adding another gauge or two. I would look into a Fuel Pressure gauge then.

Has anyone used the dual guage pod that clips in where the center dash speaker is? Also does anyone have any experience with the SPA Design dual guages? Expensive but would take up alot less space.
