gauge cluster backlight color

Did a search and came up with pretty much nothing i could use..

Does anyone know if the 'amber/redish' color of the gauge cluster created by light bulbs of that color, or if the numberings and marks on the gauge itself are tinted that color? I'm trying to see how hard it would be to change the background coloring of the gauges.

I did talk to blackcatcustom.com but that's still 90 bucks i could save if it's not too difficult to do myself

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm with windom. You can still change the color though. I had a couple sets I experimented on. One I tried to change to blue, that did'nt work out 'cause the yellow backing on the gauge combined with blue becomes green. I was successful in changing another to red. Seeing that you are in Cali, go to KB Toys and get a can of Tesla transparent paint. If you can't find it there, any hobby shop should have it.
