Engine mounts, my f**ken problem!

Right
I pulled my engine mounts ( my Fds up on axel stands ) to check them and they are fine so I'm in the process of putting them back in but I've run into a problem.

The engine is raised with a jack and block of wood under the tranny but for some reason my engine is about 20mm out of alignment with the sub-frame ( to the left facing to the front of the car) and therefore my left engine mount wont bolt up even with the tranny raised as high as it will go ( the top of the GB is hitting the trans tunnel as it wont fit in there.

I had a friend come over and push the engine across to help line it up while I lay underneath and try to bolt the mount up but the engine is still about 10mm short from being alighed.

Does anyone know why my engine is now sitting out of alignment with the sub-frame? and what could I take off to help bring it back into line to bolt the mount up?

So far I have taken off -

PPF
exhaust
IC couplers
Sway bar
Torque brace

get the mount in. Lower the engine down and use a pry bar against the block to move it into place. it is most likley the jack that is keeping it from moving.

shouldnt even have to take the PPF of exhaust off.

I was able to use a screwdriver to push the end on the stock mounts back through the hole they need to go through while my sister lowered the jack.

Are you talking about bolting the mounts back on the engine or on the subframe? I had a problem with getting one of the mounts back on the engine. One mount bolted up to the engine just fine, but the other mount would not sit flush because the subframe would get in the way.

I just left the "cooperative" mount bolted to the engine, and bolted the "uncooperative" mount to the subframe (instead of the engine). I got my roomate to gently lower the jack all the way while I made sure the engine rested properly on the "uncooperative" mount. Then I moved the jack to the other side of the car to lift the engine from a different angle, and relifted the engine/tranny.
