Gasoline smell with heater on?

Hey, I know this guy who has a 3rd gen RX7, and he really loves this car but he's frustrated because he always has problems with it. Anyways, now he thinks he's gonna have to shell out a lot of cash to get this problem fixed. I was wondering if you guys could help. He has a strong gasoline odor whenever he turns on his heater. I read on another post about the FPD. Could it be this or something else? Any ideas are appreciated. Also, he doesn't know much about cars and I don't have a shop manual for it, so any general location descriptions of components would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would fix it before I drive the car much. Do a search for "engine fires" or something like that. Lots of FD's go down to a fuel leak. There was a recall on it I believe.

This site also has some good info.
