Can you get a decent 3rd gen for 13.5?

I asked a long time ago about a decent 3rd gen for 7 but I've got some more money now and I can afford up to 13.5. I want a manual only ;p

So, think I can get a decent one? Or should I go with a street bike instead (which I can certainly afford a brand new one ;p)

Well, if you want a strait forward answer then yes you can, you just have to shop around for one that is in good condition and has been taken care of. Good luck and happy hunting.

I've found several nice ones for that price, however you're gonna have to dig for them and let your options be wide open, don't expect to find EXACTLY what you want. What you're gonna find for that price is either A) well cared for cars with higher miles that may be needing a new motor in some time or B) Reemed out cars that have already had the motor replaced, a few flaws here and there and a few problems here and there, but a motor won't be your issue.

I personally would opt for option B. You can fix the little problems as you go, but a motor aint cheap.

Good luck in your search, they truly are amazing cars to own!

Get the bike or keep on saving. Either would be fun.

First of all, 99% of the FD's out there will need SOME work -- rear suspension bushings, etc. Secondly, if you can barely afford $13.5k, you cannot afford an FD. What most newbies dont' seem to get is the purchase price is the STARTING POINT. You don' t just buy an FD, especially for $13k, and drive it without putting any other money into it.

Do yourself a favor and get something that you can actually afford.

I just sold mine for 13,500. It was bone stock, immaculate condition inside and out, with all reliability mods done. 64k on odometer, turbos, tranny, stock motor. Passed smog better than my MKIV, and the 7 didn't even have a pre cat! That car is just too awesome and is going to be missed by not only me, but the neighborhood kids as well. After owning one, I don't buy into this internet mythology BS. If you take care of it, it'll run for a while.

Well, you should have sold it for more if it was in such good shape. BTW, if you don't have a pre-cat, it's not exactly bone stock....

It isn't internet mythology either. I can show you my receipts for work done on the car over the past 18 months, if you don't believe me. If you haven't done any repairs other than basic maintenance, your car is not "immaculate". Most of the rear suspension bushings, for example, barely last 40k. It costs $800 just in PARTS for that, even if you replace them all yourself. You just aren't aware because you sold it at about the mileage that everything needs replacing...

There was a poll last week on money put into the car -- you should see the average amount for maintenance...

So why did you sell the 7?
