Gas pedal

Is it a natural thing, for the gas pedal on the 3rd gen, to be harder then an average car to push down?

The gas pedal IS slightly stiffer than any of the "modern" cars I've owned/driven. If it's actually hard to push down, either there's a mechanical problem or you need to do some calf exercises...

Your throttle cable is probably in need of change. I am right at 100k miles and my throttle cable has been shot for the past few months. It's indeed very stiff and I've had some other people drive it and be like WTF. I've driven others myself and notice a very big diff. Their throttle cables were very responsive compared to mine.

Hmmm I figured it was the cable.

How much do they run to replace?

I think the other thing to consider is more and more of the modern cars are going or have gone to electronic throttles so the gas pedal also doesn't feel as stiff.

I have a new cable, and the pedal feels EXACTLY the same. My old cable was wearing out (starting to rip).

The cable costs around $45 or $75, somewhere around that range.
