gas gauge not working

Pump 40 bucks of gas today and gas gauge says i have 1/4 of a tank. Any ideas what can be the problem?

your float is prolly has a hole in it.

do you live in california ? It's quite possible your gas guage is fine... 40 dollars doesn't get you to far now adays

Check in the back by where the fuel pump is. There's a lil nut that bolts down a lil wire (sending unit to the gauge cluster) Usually gets a lil rusty. Get it cleaned up and tighten it down.

cool, i will try that for mine fd rey, my problem is when i fill it all the way up the guage does not go completely to full.

well i looked for the wire but couldnt find it, fd rey can you post a pic of the wire you are talking about or can someone else maybe post a pic, this seems like it might help alot of people, cause mine just started doing it recently, it used to go all the way to full but now it doesnt.

The wire is right on top of the gas tank. You have to take the 4 phillips screws off first, which holds the cover for the sending unit.

i still havent got a chance to check the sending unit but today i hit a bump and the gas gauge started working for the rest of the day but now im back to the same problem.
