Gas door will not close.
This problem has been happening for a little while now but I've never really took the time out to properly fix it. I searched here for some easy fixes to my problem but didnt find anything so I'll start a thread of my own.
My gas door will not close unless I play around with the piece that holds the door shut, it seems to get stuck in the open position and its a pain in the *** playing with it for so long to get the door to stay shut. Any easy fixes to this problem besides keeping pliers in my car with me, like maybe a way to replace the spring or whatever is in there? Any suggestions appreciated.

^^^ Yup.
Lubrication has been reported as being a successful fix in many instances of this.

Besides WD40 or something into the end of the release cable so the little latch piece come all the way out, check this. In my case the plastic was worn on the latch where the piece from the cable release rubs. I just filled the worn spot with some cold weld and it now works fine.

lol....I just had to take care of this 'problem' myself. As others have indicated, all you need is a little lube most of the time. What was happening in my case was the little black plunger from the remote was VERY stiff and was simply not retracting easily, thus it was essentially holding the door open. Some WD-40 sprayed liberally into the plunger sheath followed by a lot of manual pushing and releasing of the plunger, followed by a shot of white lithium grease did the trick.

Not sure it's just me or installation/ repainting stuffs them up, pulled a couple from cars and the brackets seem to have a tendency to distort.
This is one after a straightening out exercise, back and the retraction lever section are still a bit wonky. Don't break the pin, or you're up for a complete system replacement.
