Funny Coolant Leak

Hey guys,

I'm back with a new problem. I went to start my car the other day and my coolant light went on. I shut down, looked under the car, and saw nothing. I just added more water. I started her and everything was fine.

The next day, I started the car and the light went on again. I looked under the car and saw a SMALL puddle of coolant right by the passenger front tire. I check the radiator hoses and the turbo coolant lines. No coolant residue or leak. I filled up with 20 oz. of water and everything was fine. Think I have a crack in the coolant filler tank?

Not to sure. Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

i have had a problem with a coolant leak since i got my car. ive done and checked everything. my engine is fine. . . blah, blah, blah. finally, while at work showing off my new (to me) apex'i intake. . . and what do i just happen to see. . . . a whole bunch of coolant seeping out of my lower rad hose. its very hard to see. i noticed a pool gathering under it and then noticed coolant seeping from the middle of the hose (where the cross-threaded support layer is) . . . yeah. . . it freaked me out. i hadnt ever seen that happen before. my thought is that it is even worse on the underside where i cant see. . . so i just decided to order a koyo rad and knock everything out at once!! haha

Be carefull where you drive. The same thing was happening to me it was the upper radiator hose. Even though you check it maybe its a small leak that leaks when the tempature forces it to expand & contract. To my luck the hose blew out while driving, I got it under control but let me tell you it was not a fun experience.

Well...I replaced the coolant hoses a couple months ago when I replaced the turbo coolant hoses. So I guess that it may be the coolant overflow tank. Thanks guys. If you have any other suggestions, let me know.

Thanks

Have you removed the airbox to check out the hose that runs from the ast to the overflow? Had the same problem and zip tied the hose and never had the problem again...

I found the problem. The hose from the radiator cap(next to the alternator) was not right around my Pettit AST. The stock clamp wasn't tight and coolant was seeping from that loose connection. I just replaced the clamp with an IDEAL clamp and there are no more leaks. I will replace all the small hoses when I find time.

Thanks a lot guys.
