Question Fuel injector size question

I have a '94 touring edition that I have put extensive mods into. I'm running and HKS front mount, HKS T-04E turbo upgrade with the HKS SSQV BOV. I pretty much have all my bases covered except the fuel injectors. I'm planning on keeping my stock primaries, but I don't know what size secondaries to use. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What ecu are you using? If you have a power FC, it will show you your injector duty. Depending on your boost level and A/Fs, you should probably be looking at 1200-1300cc injectors. You will need to upgrade your fuel pump first/at the same time.

There's a fuel calculator at Max Cooper's site and also at rx7.com. Rough, but probably in the ballpark.

BTW, who is tuning that setup? They should have some advice regarding the subject.

Just go all out and get 1600 cc secondaries and a new fuel rail. Its better to have a little more, then not enough. You would probably be fine with 1300 cc, but if you want to turn up the boost or go with a bigger single down the road, you would have to uprade again.

I've got most of the bolt ons covered and I put 1300 cc's in, thinking maybe down the line I may go small single. Now I wished I would have just gone with the 1600 cc, just to be on the safe side.

What ECU are you using???

I realize people are using them, but from the discussions I've had it seems that 1300's are a bad idea. They're modified, so with any mod comes risk of failure. RX7.com apparently won't even sell 1300's. 1600's are a stock Bosch part and should therefore be more reliable. I was looking to go single and agree that it would make more sense to bite the bullet and get a new fuel rail.

Cool. That's what I've decided to to. That way I know that I'll be safe if I want to run more boost than what I'm running right now. Thanx to everyone who posted.

550cc primaries are fine unless your running over 22lbs of boost. Thats when they start to max out. If your running under that, try and keep them as it will help with drivability. Secondaries, again depends on the boost levels, but going with 1600cc and a new fuel rail is your best bet.

Right now I"m boosting 14lbs. But I'd like to bump it to 16 or18. That's enough boost to be faster than most anything around where I live but still reliable enough to be a daily driver.

That's what I'm hoping for Mike. I am wanting something that I don't have to worry about the competition around here. The only person that is even coming close is my good friend. He has a '02 WRX with a Blitz FMIC and a new PE VF-34 turbo. Pretty sweet ride boosting 19lbs. But he can't beat me, just runs fairly close thanx to that all wheel drive launch.

Your won't be running that kind of boost on a single turbo on pump gas for long. The fuel will break down and you will ping. Doesn't matter what your A/F is. Been there done that.

There is a gas station around here that sells 103 from the pump. That certainly helps. What octane do you think I would need to run?

That would help, but when I race I use VP116 so I don't have much experience with lower octanes.

Exclamation

I think you should definitely go with 1600's and upgrade the fuel rail. You can purchase the fuel rail from R o tor Mo tor sports . com. They are selling it for $220.

Also, at 14psi you should be hitting 100% duty cycle right? What does your commander shows as your peak on duty cycle when you hit 14psi? You will eventually blow the motor if you are hitting 100%, lower the boost.

I have the 1300s and I dont think they will push enough fuel for me to run the boost levels I want...I did some runs last night and at 15lbs of boost Im at 79 percent....when i was deciding on the injectors everyone said to get the 1200-1300s and now I fear I went too small to run 400 hp.

I dont want to run more than 85 percent and Im getting close to that at 15lbs. the prob is that i want to run 19-20lbs on the high end occasional run.

wont know for sure til i dyno tune but its looking like i will have to upgrade.

the t04e is good for 400hp or so right? you should go with the 1600s...

good luck

I've seen paperwork where guys squeezed almost 500whp out of the T-04E setup. I am just trying for between 400 and 450 whp. We'll see what happens. I decided to go with the 1600's and the fuel rail from . The shop in Raleigh, NC is gonna do all the work for me. They're called clean and fast. Good shop with excellent knowledge. As far as my PFC, I don't want to run at anything higher than 80%
