fuel filter relocation

alright. . . a few people asked me about this. . . its a cheap fuel filter relocation. . . easy to do.

the filter and hardlines came from advance auto parts. . . so go to one of their affiliates. ill get the part number for you guys later. . . i totally forgot it.

the filter fits in the STOCK BRACKET. this made things very easy to do. i drilled two holes in the rear subframe and mounted it up there. . . made the bolts accessible so changing it wouldnt be too much of a task.

anyways, i cant do a write-up cause i did it a while ago. you SHOULD be able to figure it out by looking at the pics.

here ya go:

okay, here are the "better" pics. . . and part numbers. the filter is purolator and the lines are in the "help" section. you have to buy them one at a time. . . but its worth it.

fuel filter: f33144
fuel lines: 800153 (buy 2 of them)

okay, i hope that gets it for everyone. . . if you dont. . . just get under your car. . . youll see.

don't take this the wrong way but if you went through the trouble of doing this then why not remove the old filter, splice in a new fuel line and relocate the fuel filter to the engine bay?

if you really wanted to get creative you could even use Earl's in-line filter with a removal and washable filter element?

because thats ANOTHER fuel connection in the engine bay. . . meaning. . . ANOTHER place to leak. i dont care for fuel leaks in the engine bay. . . nor do i like clutter in the engine bay. i dont change my fuel filter as often as i change oil so theres no need to put it in there. . . not to mention the fact that there is no room in the engine bay to be able to do it decently. why not just jack up the rear of the car and change it w/o having to worry about fuel leaking on precious parts.

FYI , this is the same filter used in many GM vehicles, including the 90-95 Corvette ZR1 (5.7L V8). It should be easy to find, and cheap.
