fuel filter relocated

i wanted to move the fuel filter somewhere in the engine bay to make life easier. i ended up using the oem feed hose (worked out to be the right length!), oem filter, 2 stainless clamps which i welded some stainless flatbar to. if i were to do it again, i'd just use one t-bolt clamp.

hope this helps someone!

Most excellent idea!
Can you give more info: how did you make the connections to bypass at the original filter location back by the fuel tank; what type of hoses and connections did you use to install the filter in the new location?
Thanks.

i don't think welding is really needed. I bracket with notches will do the same thing and not a not risk having welds fail on really thin metal.

but looks like its still a good idea. But the vets may have better opinions.

Just what you need, More stuff in the engine bay. I've heard of people relocating it to sit behind the diff instead of Above it.

But at least it's easier to change, that's for sure!

There a few dicussion about the fact that is not a good think to place a fuel filter on a very hot place like an engine bay.

Also you better isolated the filter with some rubber washer from vibration.

Thanks.
just run some 5/16" high pressure fuel hose to bypass the fuel filter at the back. i used the oem hose to make the connection to the front and will using -6 hose from the filter to the fuel rail

you can rivet it too or use a t-bolt clamp which uses thicker material. i have a tig welder so it's pretty easy to weld thin stuff and added more filler for a stronger weld

it'd one thing if this was near a heat source (exhaust manifold), but there are a lot of cars with fuel filters under the engine bay such as 240sx, skyline, etc.

It's good to know! I may consider this location to Maybe use some heat wrap on the filter will be a good thing!

Hmm.. very nice idea! I think i will do something like this to my own car. Though i own a FC ( but with a FD engine ) I think Fd`s have another filter location than FC`s, but with this mod i guess its a dream to change filter compared to the stock location
