Fuel cut

I have a 13B TT and its all stock except for 3" down pipe and midpipe...

I heard that the motor will blow if you run it without cats on a stock ECU...
True???

true. put the cat back on. its there for a reason. unless you have ported your wastegate, have a pfc and a boost controller, and generally know exactly what your doing.

NOT "true." and recommending to put back on a clogged inefficient 15-year-old cat (versus a new high-flow, for example) ?

"...have a pfc and a boost controller..."

It you're running a stock turbo setup, the Power FC lets you to raise boost without a separate boost controller

And the reason for a cat is actually to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The designers didn't put it there to purposely create backpressure just for the hell of it.

wow...

The car will be harder to drive smoothly with reduced backpressure, and it'll run slightly lean, but to just flat out say that the engine will definately explode shows how much people know.

If you're reducing backpressure, upgrading to a Power FC or other fuel management system is the next logical step to maximize the effectiveness of the modifications. On top of that it helps tremendously with driveability.

He is running the no cat set up and its just fine, changed the oil and plugs yesterday, Every thing is "cheese"
He just needs a intake set up now!

Oh, does he need a tunned ECU, or can he just run like a APEXI afc Neo for A/F management???

best option would be to go for apexi power fc + commander...i think anyone who has plans of performance enhancement should straight away get their hands on one...if moneys an issue save up...if u really have no other option then go for a chipped ecu that go according to ur mods...
