Fuel Cut?

Hey guys, i had a thread about this before, but i cant seem to find it even when i search my threads under my name.

Anyways, At about 5k RPM in 2nd i belive my car hits fuel cut. But i only thought that fuel cut accurs once the car is going to over boost, or about to over boost. I know there is a chart for this.

The weird thing is that i am only at 7PSI. Im no where near the 11PSi or 13 PSI Fuel cut.

---Mods on my JDM 92'

-Intake, with Heat shield box
-Downpipe
-Resonated MidPipe
-HKS Super Dragger Exaust
-PFC on its way

Could it be a bad fuel pump, or fuel filter maybe?

Any insight to this would be appreciated.

-Mark

If you are using the stock pills and an unported w/g to control your boost with those mods, your going to over boost.

Search: "Boost creep" . And check the accuracy of you boost gauge.

i dont know why i cant edit my 1st post, but just wanted to add this info...

When im Pulling in 2nd, when it hits 5k RPM, its a total loss of power, and it backfires.

Awaiting some info from you guys...

????????????

I'm with Gadd on this one - you should be overboosting and hitting fuel cut with your mods, no matter what boost control system you have. Plus, the problem description fits fuel cut. I just don't understand why you are only seeing 7 psi unless your boost gauge is screwy.

At 5000rpm is when the second turbo comes on and you might be spiking to over 12 psi and not knowing it. Take another boost guage from a buddy and confirm that yours works properly.

Are you running sequentially or in twin mode? Have you confirmed that your secondary turbo is working properly? What happens to the boost at 5000rpm? Maybe just maybe the stock map sensor is fubared?

What type of boost gauge are you using? With a pretty much unrestricted exhaust, and an intake you are most probably running much higher then 7psi. I had a autometer boost gauge that came with my car when I bought it. The thing was saying I was running 8psi, but when I got rid of that thing and put in my defi's I found out it was more like 13psi!!!! WOOOO I got a boost controller immediatly. Thank god nothing dramatic happened while I was running that amount of boost, but that goes to show you that you get what you pay for.

goodluck,

^ I know dave. I was just trying to give him an example so he knows that the cheaper boost gauges arent the best quality.

No problem, I wasn't trying to be defensive or anything. I was just trying to reinforce the fuel cut diagnosis, and to help (as you were) send him down the correct path to a solution. You did explain the bad gauge scenario more completely.
