Front bumper support ?

What does the top of the front bumper connect to? Mine isnt bolted on to anything and im almost positive that on my old rx7 that it had like a metal bar that went across the front and the bumper bolted to that?

Does anyone have pics of their front with the stock bumper mounted with out the stock ic duct on?

Not exactly what your looking for but you can see two edges of the metal bracket that holds the bumper to the body.

There are three metal brackets which are are held to the bumper skin by rivets....you can buy the brackets (~$120) from the dealer, as well as the 12 or so rivets which hold it to the skin.

3 brackets on top.

I just bought ALL the brackets for my CYM project car.

The top bracket alone lists for $133 IIRC. Total count of brackets on the front bumper is 7 I believe.

Hopefully you are just missing the pieces that go on the bumper, because I can't bring myself to consider the alternative! (botched FMIC install?) I believe there are more than seven pieces - the two rubberized ones that overlap in the front, the two rubberized ones in the headlight buckets, and the two on the ends....then there are the pieces that go on the backside of these that the rivets hold on to. These are all joined by at least one rivet and it is likely that if they removed the center pieces, they removed all of them to prevent the bumper from cracking/sagging where the metal starts/stops.

You mean to say that the chassis brace that goes along the front of the car is not there? I've never heard of anyone cutting that out before - maybe someone was trying to hack it up to put a FMIC or Vmount in, or the car was in an accident and they didn't bother replacing it. Either way, to replace it you will either need to order this part from Mazda or cut it off a good front clip in the bone yard. I don't believe this brace bolts in, I think its part of the chassis and will require welding.

My car has the bar but its cut down. Like if its a square then the top and front of it are cut off. The wireing harness is just laying along this bar and is quite ugly.

Going off memory, I think my wiring harness was clipped to the front of that bar. You might be able to make do with some large zip ties to hold the wire loom place. I'd try to run it along the bottom so it will not chafe on the edge of what used to be the front. Sorry, I honestly do not know where you can get one of those cover plates.
