Fresh rebuild 1200 miles...recovery truck

Well, i gotcha all - you thought it'd blown up didnt you :P

Coming onto the M1 at brent cross after ace cafe (a local car meet), just about to floor it and go for gold on the open highway and...oil pressure drops, defi gauge beeping.

Sorry about pics, camera phone.

RX looking sad

These oil filter pedestals have a known problem with this happeneing, the manufacturer recalled them to fix them, but i wasnt about to send mine back to the US to get it fixed. Ill just weld the post back in tomorrow.

Worst news is the whole side of my engine, subframe, bottom of car and some of the transmission has had 3 litres of oil sprinkled over it! Right after a fresh rebuild and freshly painted block no leaks. Time to invest in a steam cleaner methinks...

like dubulup said, I hope your bearings are alright or it's still a rebuild.

Do you know how long it was on with little oil?

about 5 seconds. I figured if it was going to happen, i would see it on my defi gauge, which i did. Oil pressure was good, then it just dropped out and started beeping - i pulled over instantly. Had my gauges on record at the time too, and i saw my oil pressure drop from 4 bar to 0 in a second, and then the engine went off and i pulled over.

so no, my bearnings arent damaged!

I've busted oil cooler lines in FC's more than once with no ill effects. Get the leak patched up and you'll be good to go.

Glad you caught it in time!
