Freeway mishap

Why can't these stupid ******* secure their loads? The other night I was driving on the freeway and was changing lanes to catch my freeway interchange when I hit some piece of solid scrap metal.
Not even sure what it was but at 70 mph I had no chance of avoiding it, didn't even see it til the last second.
Anyway it bent my RacingBeat sway bar, the RacingBeat sway bar brace, broke one of my fans and put a little hole in my Fluidyne radiator. It did some fiber glass damage and tore a hole in the small lower radiator hose.
I'm running a V-Mount intercooler set up hence the broken fans.

Funny thing is after my wife brought me 5 gallons of water and some tools all it took to get the car home was to stuff GUM in the hole where the radiator was leaking and cut the damaged piece of hose off and reattach. The car actually ran as if nothing had happened and still tracked straight. I figure it cost me about $1000.00 dollars worth damage and a days pay since i was on my way to work.

Douche bag non-securing their load ,pick-up truck driving mother *******. (I'm assuming thats who it was since you see them on the freeway all the time)

I was being passed by a big truck throwing rocks up.. I was going around 55 in a 55. This truck passes me going at least 65. He ends up breaking my windshield. On the back of the truck it says.. " We are not responsible for damage to vehicles on the road" I was soooooo pissed... I wish i would have gotten a licenses plate number or company name.. I was to worried about the cracked windshield.

I'm not sure if i can. It happened on the 210 freeway between the 57 and 605 in SoCal and everyone here knows the state is on the verge of bankruptcy so they would probably tell me to pound sand.

You might want to check with your agent. Not an expert, but that might be considered the same as a comp claim and not count against you like an at-fault accident.

Good God...that sucks. Reminds me of the time I was heading to work about two years ago when I went around a curve (it was winter so it was dark at 6:00 in the morning) and...there were friggin' CINDER BLOCKS in the road, some intact, some broken...you could tell they'd come off a truck when it went around the curve.
I was able to see them and get around them okay (thank you, Volvo!) but I distinctly remember thinking if I'd been in the RX7, with its less-than-wonderful lights and likely going faster than I was in the S80...that it wouldn't have been a good thing.

I had a similar experience about a week ago but this was in my 08 mazda3 which was a rental so i didn't even care but anyhow i was doing 110 keep in mind this is in -30 degrees C. i was trailing behind a huge semi with a trailer attached to it, being so cold outside every time he went over a bump of dirt or frozen ice it would shake his trailer and huge pieces of frozen ice would come tumbling off. it felt like a video game i was litterally doing 110 dodging ice chunks the size of my wheels left and right the whole way for about 10 kilometers until a nice flat one landed on the hood of my car denting it and then onto my windshield! i tailed the ******, took his license plate down and sped up to pass him with my hazards on, he didn't stop so i just made a report about his punk *** and everything is covered by insurance. pheeww god damn truckers man im telling you! if this had happened in my baby FD i woulda tailed him till he pulled over somewhere and smashed his face into his own windshield, grrrrr.

I'm really sorry to hear that. The similar thing happened to me on the 110 freeway that damaged my door.

I'm starting to feel like the socal freeways are warzones.

Similar thing happened to me once in my BMW. I ran over something in rush hour traffic on the cross bronx and it pierced the fuel filter (under the driver's seat). Car came to a dead stop and had to be towed off the highway. There I sat for hours with a big puddle of fuel all around me hoping some wise *** wouldn't toss a lit cigarette while I waited for a tow.

I'm sorry to hear about this. But at least the damage wasn't too severe. I was dreading to read another thread about a totalled FD.

I agree with Sgt Blue. I had a dolley fall off of a truck in front of me once, and my insurance covered it as a comp. claim. I still had to pay the deductable, but it doesn't count against you. You might save $500, and you could still spend it on the 7. It would be like like a get well present.

Yeah it's getting ridiculous, this is the second time I've hit **** with the RX7 on the freeway. 2yrs ago a 4x4 kicked up a road alligator and i hit it at 75 mph while it was still airborne. Needless to say it messed some stuff up.
I also had a couple incidents in a 300ZX i had one was hitting a pitbull that walked in front of me from the shoulder and hit him at 65mph. killed him and destroyed a pretty rare Bomex front facia.
