Found this while hunting CPU #2

Any ideas what this may be? It is zap strapped to my steering linkage above my pedals, LHD 94. Also found this taped up plug and one cut wire. Figure some of the more mechanical rotary heads might know what the story might be.

mystery box

cut wire and harness

Not sure about the clipped wires, but the relay jump-out is a common quick fix to some no-start problems.

Yep, jumper wire is to bypass the security relay. If the alarm goes off it triggers that relay to keep the car from starting. But, over time, that relay gets flaky and becomes a problem, common to bypass it.

Not sure what that box that's zip tied up is. Maybe some old alarm or something. The tapped in wire at the CPU is probably something to do with the alarm, or it could be a keyless entry or something.

The zip-tied box looks like an aftermarket alarm motion sensor. Does the car have an aftermarket alarm?

Yup, it does. An old Viper with keyless entry and half baked alarm. This all makes sense as the car had a starter replacement a few years ago and melted wiring plugs/harness under the hood too.

I'll start with CPU#2 cap change and hopefully the car doesn't detonate. Thanks for the replies.
