FMIC + Stock Battery?

I picked up a Greddy M Spec Style intercooler. And Ive been searching around at posts...alot of people relocate their batteries or get PC680 slim batteries. However, I have seen a given amount of people that have managed to keep their stock battery (however moving it horizontally or further into the engine bay).

Just wanted to see if this is possible with the M-Spec. Or how some of you guys have done it. I'm on twins by the way using the stock elbow.

Also in the only instructions I could find online from Greddy is the V-Spec install which states that the Stock Battery can be retained.

Thanks Guys!

The stock battery is a horrible fit with the M spec kit. Go pick up a 51R commonly used in a honda civic.

on a budget, a cheapy costco or walmart will work

long term install - Optima yellow top 51r - costco carry these at some location

No way in hell will the stock battery fit with the Greddy/ Greddy replica FMICs. My 51R battery doesn't even fit the way it should, it always rubs on my coupler and put holes in it. Your best bet is the Odyssey battery or relocating.

And none of those pics you posted have the stock battery, those are all 51Rs from older model Hondas and Acuras.

I started to lean at the 51r because the Cold Cranking Amps on the PC680 suck in comparison. From reading around online..if I dont start my car for a week the PC680 will be dead and need to be recharged

hey johnny!

i have the same FMIC

i had the stock battery but then opted for a miata battery but both fit basically the same.(stock being obviously larger)

i didnt want the odyssey battery since the cranks and amps were to low for my old DVD/Navi setup and i didnt want to run a capacitor

here is a pic. lmk if you'd like my old custom battery tray. im sure its somewhere in the garage .

Whoa sick. Definitely if you can hook up the battery tray let me know. I don't have a crazy system or anything just aftermarket head unit and a serious alarm system. I was just really stumped on the fitment and didnt want to start an install and end up shooting myself in the foot.

From the looks of the install it totally seems like the stock battery would fit. Should I try and pull it off or buy the 51r?

There hasnt even been a pic of the stock battery installed so how does it totally seem like the stock battery would fit?? Every pic has been of 51R batteries. A stock battery would NEVER fit in there.

i had a custom battery tray made when i originally had the FMIC installed. the battery originally didnt fit and they was no way to shove it in. so the tray sat a tad bit higher but the resulting problem was the the the a/c lines and components. they were removed. but here in cali i need a/c so the miata battery was used with another custom tray.

i know its far-fetched but it has been done.

Do you have any pics of that?? It seems crazy to me because the stock battery physically will not fit in there. It doesn't even come remotely close to fitting, its off by at least 6" when i tried awhile back. I just cant imagine it ever fitting no matter what you try. I'm not calling you a liar I'm just genuinely curious as to how it could be possible.

I just went through the weekend trying to see if I could somehow fit the stock battery in there, "Except I have the Blitz FMIC" and there's no way I could find how to get that thing to fit. The only way it might fit, is getting rid of the radiator fans, which obviously is not happening for most people.

I ended up getting the 51r battery and it fits in perfectly, but you do still have to get creative on how to tighten it down.

Relocate it.... It's more work but ultimately better. It cleans up the engine bay, better weight distribution, & an addition of power distribution.

I followed the following write-up. Overall, VERY pleased with my results. It's quality & I never looked back. A few minor deviations but generally the same. All of my gauges & any auxilary device are powered by their own fused circuits. There is no longer load on the ignition. I even used the block to activate my fuel pump rewire. Too easy....

Need to disconnect the battery for some work?... Press of a button on the fuse block.

I don't know if these pictures will help. All the pictures shown in this thread have the IC piping in different spots, so Im not sure where your piping goes. ( I am not familiar with your FMIC)
For my FMIC, I had a custom battery tray and a smaller Honda battery to get my set up to work. I am also using the factory elbow and on stock twins.
