any suggestions for rx7 that won't startup after drive?

on occasion, my car would not turn on after driving it. Now it does it every single time. I go for a drive and then park the car, i try the key and it won't start. If I wait 30 minutes, some times it will turn on. If I push it, it will start. Some times I let it sit for a few hours, I go to try it and it will start, and turn the car back off after 5 minutes, and it won't turn back on. The engine usually doesn't even try to turn, it's as if the starter was broken as all the lights engage. i also installed a new battery recently so it's not that. I just tried it after driving it. Engine tried to turn once, but then cut off. Now engine won't even try to turn. Fans are running when the key is left in. the Exh over heat light is on, but so is the battery, break, abs, check engine since the car is not fully turned on.

any suggestions?

Give that a read and see if it clears it up for you.
If not let us know.

In my TII I had the same issue , it would flood up after a drive, and would not start after it was turned off. I had to install a switch to the fuel pump and then turn the pump off crank it for about 10 second's and then while still cranking flip the switch to turn the pump on and it would start right up. Change the spark plugs, or the coils. Change the oil and then do a compression test see if u have any loss of compression. Have sure ur injectors aren't leaking , and worst of all is eventually u will need a rebuild . Look up "hot start" in the forums.

MSilk thanks. the oem security relay seems to have been it. wish I had instructions on how to get to it, old plastics break easily. But I jimmied up a quick bypass using aluminum foil and it's starting up every time. thanks again.

Get rid of the aluminum foil before you short something out. Get a piece of 12-16 gauge wire, 2 male spade connectors, and make a jumper.

Hey good to hear that's what we are here for!

I agree with Rotary get that aluminum foil out of there pronto, like do not drive it until you fix that. Please do not drive with that I would hate to hear of your car burning up.

As for getting the plastics off you can get a special tool for removing upholstery fasteners just make sure that you take your time to pop the rivets. If you do break a rivet it is not a big deal. You can get some that work from Napa or any other parts place. If you need a part number let me know. As for the upholstery tool it looks like this http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...160_0109455688 I use something very similar and have had no problems. There are other types as well.

Please remove that foil!!!

Glad you have found the problem
