fmic and (?)intake

just curious, i have a hks megaflow intake system and am putting on a greddy 2 row fmic, so....the hks megaflow is too big and run into the piping for the intercooler. i was either going to modify the hks, or buy a new intake system and sell the hks that i have now...what do you guys run with your fmic?

mods-
bnr stage 3's
greddy 2 row fmic
extreme fuel system-rx7store
auto-manual swap
apexi pfc + commander
downpipe+midpipe+apexi gt spec
apexi avc-r
etc...etc....

Greddy's intake fits with their FMIC.

There really is no difference in performance between any of the open air intakes.

I run the HKS intake with the Greddy 2 row with no problems. I just shortened the pipe to the rear turbo snorkle. The Apexi intake that I had before the FMIC had to be crushed and wedged into place even without the air-pump.

I'd go with the ebay hard pipes and some k&N filters. Maybe some type of shield too. If you can make the HKS fit why the heck not...you already have it

Yeah, just get the ebay hard pipes but instead of using the k&n filters just use your hks filters. You dont have the hks intake kit with polish pipes do you?If you do you could just modify them but if you have the other kit the one that still uses the factory rubber hoses you cant modify.

It shouldn't be a problem then just cut a little off the pipes.

Im interested in what happens, I just bought the greddy 2 row and have the HKS intakes as well as have the BNR 3s on order. I do have a question though. I have the optima 51r battery and turbojeffs battery tray, can I keep this or did I just waste my money? I am going to be installing a koyo along with it.

BTW- what boost are you running on the pfc? I am going to need to break in my engine but I need a map for my pfc for the bnr's and we are going to have almost the exact setup.

right now i am currently trying to get a datalogit to tune the beast up a bit to break it in. i think im going to run 15psi at the most on stock gas, and the datalogit is going to help so i can map out the car because right now its running really rich and has quite a lot of knock. i got the greddy intake and it works fine but had to modify the lower intake a bit due to the new turbos pushing out a little more than the stock ones. the most boost i have gotten it up to so far is about 8psi but i dont want to rush anything seeing as how i need to break in the motor.

so we are in the exact same situation. What map did you go with origionally? I am going to be running the 7psi with the boost controller turned off (profec b spec 2) and try to keep it below half throttle. I am going to try to just get some custom piping for the intakes. Is your motor just a reman or ported?

its just a rebuilt motor from mazda recycling here in cali. i heard good things from them but lately it hasnt been too good. 3 blown motors within 3 months....and this is all after i got the motor :-(. im assuming the best map to use right now is the '99 spec map just because the '99 spec turbos are similar to the new bnr's

Sorry to hear about the motors. It sounds like our systems will basically be identical. I guess we need to look around for a good base map or let me know how yours does as you break the engine in.

I must be real lazy then. I went ahead and got the greddy filter kit when I put my front mount on. Su_maverick, that battery will fit in the storage bins. You have to cut the bottom out though. Totally up to you. I know I couldn't fit my red top in the front.
