Flasher CPU FD01 vs FD07 and what does TNS control

Does anyone know if flasher cpu FD07 and FD01 are interchangeable?
I'm pretty sure my flasher relay is bad and so I started searching.
I've never seen FD07 mentioned anywhere, but I found one for sale and it looks like it's the same as FD01

On a side note. All of my lights work fine, excet for my turn signals and hazards. Also when I hit the brake pedal, my brake lights don't come on... but they light up as running lights. Does this sound like the CPU 2 being bad? I don't think the TNS relay is bad since my running lights work when I turn on the head lights. I'm just not sure what all the TNS relay controls.

TNS is Tail, Number, Stop. Basically the running lights.

Get the shop manual's wiring diagram out and start tracing things.

The flasher relay is pretty basic, I don't know if I've seen one necessarily go bad. The other CPU functions are stuff like warning beepers, the security system, etc.

Odd, I don't think I've seen a FD07 CUP#2, only FD01 and F111. Was yours originally a USDM car? Maybe the FD07 was for a different market? I'm pretty sure they are all interchangeable, however they may have different functions/features based on market (daytime running lights for instance).

I've had a TNS relay go bad, but that was because my fuse box was flipped upside down (as per the original Greddy V-Mount directions). From the sound of your symptoms, I'd at least start there. There is another of the same exact relay in that fuse box (I can't remember exactly which off the top of my head), so you could swap them quickly just to test it.

My car has FD01 for cpu#2, originally USDM. I found a FD07 for sale (used), it's from a reputable place, so not sure if I want to try it or not... looks like it has pins in the normally blank connector? I don't think it's the TNS though, since all of my running lights work.

So, I did a bit of digging, cause this was something I've never seen before, and I found a FB post from about a year ago where Kevin (RX7 Parts) is asking about this exact CPU. Looks like it was for the European spec cars. I'd just reach out to Kevin. He said he was going to verify it working in a US spec car before posting it for sale, so I'd assume you are good to go, but can't hurt to ask.

As for the TNS relay, it may not be the issue, but with how simple that little swap over would be, I see no reason not to do it. If only to verify.

Oh wow, thanks for digging into that! I'll reach out to him and check. You would think that there would be more info on it if it somewhere. I thought that maybe it was some sort of recall part in a random country.
Yeah, I was avoiding swapping the TNS because I have a v-mount setup and it's an inconvenience to remove everything to get to the relay... but most of my issues have been simple things like that, so I might as well check it.
Thanks again!
