fitment problems with fluidyne radiator

Hi,

Did anyone have fitment problems when installing their FD Fluidyne Radiator? After I had mine installed at Tri-Point, it looks like the intercooler and that plastic airduct panel that connects the airbox and intercooler all got pushed up, now there are some parts that rub the hood.

Anyone with similar experiences have any remedies? Thanks!

Ed

The top radiator mounting brackets were installed wrong. Why not do it yourself, it takes all of two hours.

On the Fluidyne, the brackets are not separate like the Koyo, they are welded on.

I just discovered this myself as my new Fluidyne is causing my PFS intake to just rub on the hood.

What happened to all the accounts of the Fluidynes fitting better than the Koyos?

I have never had any fitment issues with my Fluidyne. It's been used with the stock IC and intake, as well as it' current setup with the Pettit Coolcharge II IC (with duct) and the Rotary Extreme CAI (M2 box type).
I'd double check to be sure it's mounted correctly.

Frank, it fits fine with the PFS IC and duct but the PFS intake is just a hair too tall on the very front passenger side corner, where it's rubbing. It is because the upper radiator hose is sitting a tiny bit higher up and is preventing the intake from resting entirely on the frame rail. If you know any way to make it work, please let me know!

I havent' seen the PFS intake up close. Is there anyway it could be modified? If it's a huge deal for you the way it fits right now you might consider taking the rad out to a actually radiator repair shop and have them put more angle on the upper hose pipe.

When I installed my Fluidyne, it was necessary to trim some plastic from the passenger side radiator fan assembly.

You might want to have a look at Tri-Point's install ... might be a bit sloppy.

Oh, and FormerPorscheGuy is right ... it only take a couple of hours to do the install ... dig in ... it's not hard.

I had mine done at Mazdatrix and they said it dropped right in no mods needed, and everything appears to be in the same place (although the clearance is now zero between the underside of the airbox and the outside of the fan shroud). However, if you need more clearance, what some people do is modify the brackets that attach the A/C condesor and the radiator to bring the radiator closer to the condesor, thus lowering it.

No fitmet problem here with the fluidyne and I run an M2 large IC too.

The fluidyne doesn't have panels on the side to block air from going thru the sides but doesn't seem to affect cooling. My car used to run 210+ with a clogged radiator and now 195 with the fluidyne.

195 all the time, on the highway? Do you have the fan mod done? Also, when's the last time you changed your thermostat?
I ask because in hot weather here (80-90) I have no problems at all keeping on the thermostat (180), with the fan mod or just on the highway.

I had fitmant problems too. The welds on my Fluidyne were crooked, like they didn't get the core into the jig properly before they welded the brackets. I can close the hood, but barely.....

Temps stay at 180 on the freeway.

i have a koyo. my fan rubbed because i had upgraded to a large battery that was rubbing on the fan shroud. the radiator does press the intercooler up some and is a very tight fit but nothing should be making noise or showing signs of rubbing.
