first time drag strip runs...
I went to the drag strip for the first time this weekend. It was sprinkling a little so the track got a little wet and traction was rough Anywho, this is what I ran:
RT - .862 seconds
60' - 2.265 seconds
1/8 - 8.734 seconds
1/8 - 89.09 mph
Mods are in sig. Is this a pretty good time? Any way to convert that to 1/4 mile times?

That's not bad for your first time but that car should be alot faster. Stock LS1's usually run 8.7 - 8.9
There are 1/8 to 1/4 calculators on the web you just have to search.
With dp, mp, cb, and Pettit ecu I did 8.2 @ 9Xmph.

I was having bad problems with wheel hop and tire spin. The back end slid around to the right on me when I switched to second gear.
What rpm do you launch at? I tried around 3.5k and let the clutch out semi-fast but all I got was wheel hop. Maybe lower??? higher? I am running with nitto drag radials.

Wow, you must have been getting off the line real slow. My first, and only time, I was running similar 60ft times, but with slower reaction times. My 1/8 ets were not as good as yours either, but mine has fewer mods, and some **** poor driving to boot.

Yea I was having the same issues on some crappy tires. Most of my 60's were 2.2 but my best were 2.1. Major wheel hop, felt tlike the car was going to break in half and I got sideways in 2nd a couple times too.
I can't really tell you what to launch at, with my new setup I launch at 4k on normal street tires.
Don't worry about reaction times for now, learn how to launch the car and get used to it first.

My first time out in my car I ran an 8.9 with only a high flo cat and DP on cheap *** tires. 2.1 60'ft times all day. The track I was at seemed to be prepped extremely well though.
I would launch at 3K and pretty much just sidestep the clutch. They would spin for a second but hook, then into second I would get a chirp but I don't have near as much power as you should. Any higher launch and I got wheelhop like you said that felt like the car was being ripped apart.
You should definetly be able to improve those times. Especially with that MPH.
