First RX7 and it's an FD

Hey all i'm Nath from Melb Aus,

Just thought I share my joy with you all I've just bought myself a 93 FD still TT setup but that probably soon to change. It's silver with red leather, sunroof and all your other options. It's my first rotary and I cant wait till it get's back from the shop, getting all the seals done and a large extend port. It's already got a 3inch HKS exhaust and a michrotech ecu and twin plate clutch.

Should be awsome any idea of what type of power figures i'm looking at people, I used to drive a skyline with 250rwkw you think this will match it??

Cheers Nath

If you value your wallet, your sanity, and your time, you will start doing a shitload of research on this forum.

it should more then match the skyline. Skylines are boats.
Im from nz and we have HEAPS of skylines down here.
I have no respect for them. They are just another FAMILY car that had the option to come with a motor that has potential. They are not a pure sports car like the FD. and id be dissapointed if your new rebuild in your lightweight FD didnt better a mere 250kw skyline.

I don't think that's necessarily true. So long as he's smart about it, does his research, knows *exactly* what each mod does, why, and what kind of support it will need I think he'll be fine.

He's starting with a fresh engine (read up on proper break-in and all that jazz) so he shouldn't have to worry about that randomly breaking (unless he does something stupid)... Planned correctly an FD as your first 7 isn't a bad deal.

Grats on the purchase Silver6, and welcome to the club, now get to studying!!! =)

Congrats bro. Post some pics up when you get it back from the shop.

I agree, an FD is not a good beginner car if you don't have much car experience. However, if you've had your hands in grease for a while and are willing to research, there's nothing wrong starting off there. Of course, if you don't do any of your own work, it doesn't really matter too much

You'd be amazed how many Skyline fanboys are in the states. I was cruising in Atlanta and this dude rolled up in a frickin GT-S and there were mobs swingin off his nuts.

They're still nice cars though and I respect them.

It's all good

I think starting with a FD is fine what's the prob.
I've had a built 355,383 and a built RB25 so I really dont think the power will
be a problem so I dont see where the problem is. FD's are the go they look horn
and have a bit of poke to go with it.

Anyways each to there own (what ever butters your toast) FD for me all the way.

Cheers Nath

There isn't any problem. It's just that way too many people on here don't do **** the right way (nor be smart about it) and end up getting into trouble.

The FD is a fine car if one is smart about modding. Otherwise leave stock

I had

1994 Kawasaki ZX6E
2000 Kawasaki ZX6R
2003 Kawasaki ZX636 (Kit cam, Ported, PCIII tuned, Arko exhaust, full frame/swingarm, pegs, etc.. polised, to much money)
2004 Kawasaki ZX636 (this was just a fun project i got cheap and sold for money)
2002 Ducai 748 Superbike, (money pit like the FD, Mag Wheels, Custom Paint, Brembo's, etc...)

So yeah i been through a few bikes but they are really fun, track days are the best times of my life.
Anyhow post some pics of your car when you get a chance.

Yeah must admit track days are probably the best fun i've ever had in my life aswell. Nothing beats thrashing down the strait at Phillip Island at 280kms then pulling her up for that mad first right. MAD FUN!!!

I just cant help myself and I'm either gona die or lose my licence for a long time so leaving the bikes alone at the moment.

Cheers nath

What size/brand turbo you people think would be nice for an end result of well over 350rwkw??

HKS T51R SPL
Garrett GT 3540
Trust T88

There must be many more to choose from what do you guys think??

The Garett GT35 with 1.0 hotside will give you good spool and 400rwhp at 14psi.

IF i'm gona do it I'll will forsure do it right the first time and all supporting mods will be included. Allready have a michrotech and a twin plate clutch all brand new seals, springs ect ect and a Large extend port and a 3.5inch cat-back exhaust.
Just dont no if I can justify spending another 10k on mods, time will tell I've done it before so I'll probably end up doing it again. Once you've been bit it's hard to stay away from the game.

Depending on how many miles are on your car don't forget to rebuild the engine and port it. That gives the best results.
