the first "my car is running perfect" thread ever

for those of you following my single build thread, this is great news.

Ive got two weeks to get my baby fully tuned from aspec and then im off to deals!

I can not believe its working so well. I gutted the engine bay, installed new fuel EVERYTHING, rewired my harness, installed a single turbo, and expected it to start. :-)

It is amazing. for anyone contemplating going single turbo, its a PITA at moments, but the pay off is beautiful.

Just figured i would post before the engine blows, i shear something off, or hit my next problem.

Congrats man I know exactly how you feel I'm just waiting on a tune for mine but everything else has been holding together, I'm still a little nervous though.

This was my experience last year so I know how you feel. I first planned on staying with the twins but right about the end of breaking in my engine I gave it some gas and barely even built any boost and BAM, smoke out the tailpipe. My twins blew a seal and needed to do something. So I ended up going single. I was lucky though and over built for my initial application and only needed the turbo at that point. My only issue was the flanges on the manifold, I'm currently waiting for Jason from rx7store.net to send me my replacement manifold but the car runs like a champ.

I'm interested to see your outcome cause I have a GT35R and thinking of getting the water injection kit you're running.

glad its working out that great, that rewiring the engine bay looked like a real pain in the ***, seemed like the worst part of the build

Sounds sweet.

I'm on the other end right now - I tried starting my FD last week to get ready for inspection and a weekend autocross - and found that a mouse had spent some time in the engine bay. The car started but smelled of roasting birdseed hulls and one headlight won't lift. So while my car *was* running well in fall it's going to be a whole different kind of spring.

After owning 2 single turbo FDs over the last 7 years, I can say that there have only been a few months total in that time where either FD ran "perfectly"; so ENJOY it !!

They always run good, but there always seems to be 10 things that need to get done .

Are there even 10 things working in the engine bay that could possibly mess up?! I can't see too much go wrong if you do a few of the reliability mods, you're only making me more nervous over here!

Car sounds great, would like to see you get on it thru 4th gear.... Man, you need a camera mount Try one of these, I use it in my own car, you can mount it to the rear shock tower bar:

Congrats on getting things sorted out, I know how you feel. I would love to do a single turbo swap but that's a big no-no in CA

spooled quick, but i'm surprised you only tached it to about 6k. Even on stock ports I would think it would keep pulling to 7 grand

I wimped out. It builds too much boost for me at this moment. I don't have my water injection installed. Couple excuses. And that's not full throttle. :-). It's way way more powerful than whatever my twins were doing.

I'll have to get a mount cause I want to tape some more.

What blows me away is that I was only at 50% inj duty after all my hard pulls. I started my whole winter project cause my fuel was maxed out

This was after about 2 hrs of logged and tweaking crusing and increased boost accelerations. The map i was provided was very lean in crusing and idle positions, but was almost spot on in acceleration points. 11.5-12 afr throughout acceleration.

Just need to install a BOV now. ARGHX has given me too much confidence in running it without one lol.

Prepping my WI kit from Dudemaaansownrx7, it looks sexy placed in my engine bay.
