Finally ran the car...I suck!!

it was my first time running the car at the track...the best 60ft time i could pull all night was a 2.23.

i ended up makin 4 passes. my first run i redlighted during the staging, and i hit the brakes too soon, but ended up with a 14.5 @ 81 with a 2.9 60ft.

next run i managed a 13.62 @ 100 with a 2.24 60 ft.

my best run of the night was a 13.46 @ 105.5 with a 2.23 60ft. It pulls so hard up top its amazing, I gained a consistant 10mph from the 1000ft mark to the 1/4.

the sheet looks like this:

RT: .8354
60ft: 2.2338
330ft: 5.8980
1/8 ET: 8.9124
1/8mph: 82.53
1000 ET: 11.4461
1000mph: 95.68
1/4ET: 13.4642
1/4mph: 105.53

i ended the night with a 13.7 @ 104 and a crappy 2.38 60ft.

any comments? i was pretty happy with a 105 trap, now i just need to learn how to launch. non-seq is a lot harder to get off the line without bogging than seq.

mods: downpipe, gutted main cat, catback at 10psi w/poor mans non-seq.

Some "experts" posted instructions/tips on the big list a year or two ago. Perhaps they will post the secrets here. The times look good to me, but I don't race. Like they say above, practice practice practice.

like everyone else said just practce on your launches. It makes a world of difference and will lower your time a lot more than you think, you'll even get faster MPH for the 1/4.

your trap may be a little different/higher since you're nonseq but a 105 would equal a 12.9- 13.0 with a decent launch.

Put some fuel with those mods and you should see a 12.7 easily.

hmmm I ran 12.8@107 with 1.9 60' on street tires, stock motor, dp, mp, cb, Pettit ecu and 10psi

With my current setup I did 12.1@114, 1.9 60' on street tires and no tach.

Your mph seems high for that time and 60', were you shifting mad quik?

yea, i was shifting mad quick yo. haha

well i went to the track again, and the best i could do again was a 2.21!! i put in a little race gas for safety, and then i tried everything, higher rpm launch, slip the clutch a little, even just enough to barely spin the tires. everytime i either bog, spin, or fry my clutch. tire pressure was down to 20psi, where are the non-seq guys with their launch techniques??

also, where should i be shifting at in 2nd and 3rd? i have been shifting at 8000 for both, but im thinking maybe at 7500 in 3rd and 7800 in 2nd, where do you guys shift? my friend with a lightning pulls 2.2's with 20s on, and 1.8s with drag radials. i should be able to do way better than 2.2.

im tired of getting smoked by my friends with their LS1s and lightnings pulling 2.0s and under. i pull hard on them at the end of the track.

Those are pretty good ets'. Launching the FD takes a lot of practice. What RPM are you launching at? I am getting 109mph trap speed but I have yet to break into the 12's. I believe in order to break into 12's, your 60ft time has to be around 1.9. The FD has a lot of wheel hop from the line. I am planning to get upgraded Toe links and trailing arms to help minimize the hop.

*Hint* At staging, leave by the last yellow to reduce your RT.(if you don't already know). Good luck.

Dino

You dont suck that bad, not compared to me at least. Tonight I ran a 13.81 (2.1 60')and a 13.91 (2.2 60') both at 102. Those are on street tires. I have dp, hf cat, RB dual tips, Pettit intak, ACT S/S clutch. The 13.8 I felt OK with, probably could have shifted better 2-3 and dropped a 1/10 off. The second run (13.9) I had really really bad wheel hop and had to let off the throttle twice before it stopped. On that second run the Neon SRT-4 I was against was pulling on my at the start and got about to where my front tire was at his rear. I cought him by the 1/8 and finished about .15 seconds ahead. The 7 cant lose!!! at least it cant lose to a Neon

same exact mods except pettit streetport but I only ran 11psi and had a 2.1 60 time and ended up with a 12.8@113

racerfoo you don't need to lower your tire pressure that much...I spin the tires way more with low tire pressure. Try like 27ish and you are shifting way too late. 1st gear take it to whatever you want 10,000!!haha but 2nd and 3d don't shift past 7500 ever.

I also had a hard time launching the car in both seq and non seq but what I would do is rev it to ~3700 and catch the clutch just perfect and you should take off.

my favorite part of the track was shifting from 1st to 2nd I would hear and feel the loudest BANG as the back end hit hard and caught...something that never happened on the street(my car would go sideways)
