Finally, officially back on a FD.

Yesterday I drove to York, Pa. to pick this 93 R1 up. This would be officially my 4th FD (I don't count my first one since I only had it for a very short time). Anyways, it was a blast to drive. I had forgotten how much fun this cars are to drive. I haven't gotten and chance to really open her up since I just finish it break in time this morning.

The car does need a paint job which it will get this week. I have a set of rims on order already. Needs a few cosmetics fix but no biggie. Car is equipped with a bunch on goodies already so the engine doesn't need anything at the moment.

Today I plan on tearing all the interior plastic out so I can paint them to match. I will keep a "log" here for those that want to follow through check it out.

Here are the tire I already got. Tire Rack you are awesome. Got this in less than 24 hours after I ordered them with UPS Ground. 265/35-18

Congrats and welcome back. The paint looks OK from the distance in the first photo.

I've always liked your avatar photo, is it a photochop or did someone actually do that to a Civic?

The paint looks fine from a distance but when you up close looks like some one took a roller to the paint. There is bondo build up in some areas and 2 small rust spots.

The avatar it's an actual picture

Congrats on the purchase, the car looks pretty clean. Almost no better than feeling than driving an FD again.

nice. I know the feeling. After 4 years of no fd and rolling in a Rx8 and a modded FC its just not the same. These cars are so much fun even w/ the twins.

Between me and my family we had all models of RX with the exception of the last Cosmo and FC. I had a few FB and one RX-3 back on the days, RX-8 and like stated before a few FDs.

hondasr4kids, what is your plan for the interior pieces. I have been working on mine for the past few months (very slowly). It's been very challenging with all the curves especially around the AC control. Looking forward to seeing what you are doing.

I will post picture of the interior this weekend. The center console, hood and instrument panel are all painted and back in the car. I just installed brand new defroster vents today also. My interior is currently dusty from the body shop and will clean it Friday. The issue I have is that all those panels I took out are all messed up. The anchors for the screw to attach the cluster, hood and AC controls are gone so everything is pretty much glued on for now. They also are from 93s and some others are from 94+ so the texture is not the same. Right now they look fine but I know hey are not perfect and that bugs me. I tried wrapping them in 3M carbon fiber fabric but didn't like the way it looked and fit.

My plans for the interior are pretty much replace everything. I want to replace all the plastics with carbon fiber pieces. I don't like the shinny stuff so I will give it a dull clear coat for the dry carbon look.

Seats I want to go JDM Recaros but $3k for a set is hard to swallow for a pair of seats that I don't know how they feel or even if I fit in them (5'11" @ 210 lbs). So not till I seat on one I'm planning reupholster them actual suede with red stitching.

I just ordered some OEM floor mats in black.

I'm going to send my seat belts to have the webbing replaced with red one.

Steering wheel either 99+ JDM 3 spoke or after market.

99+ gauge cluster

Thinking replacing the carpet with red one but not really sure on that one.

On the near future I'm going to take the door latch mechanism apart and clean and grease them to see if it moves more freely.

As for the exterior, I'm waiting on my new wing. I will also add 99+ front bumper and feed style side skirts (if you want to call them that). Will do the tail light here next month when I return from out to sea period. I want to upgrade my lighting and that would be it for the exterior.

Engine will get a set of BNR's and 1600 injector with supra pump.

Will post pictures Saturday night when I get the wing installed and new blinkers.

Glad to see you back man.

You didnt waste time in getting your FD all the nice goodies lol.

When you got your paint job, it was just a respray or did you have body work done? How much did it cost? You dont have to give exact price, just give a ballpark so i have an idea.

I was thinking if i should do body work when i get new paint as i only have dings on the door, a fender etc. There is really no body damage at all to the car.

I had to get the whole car re painted. It was stripped down completely. It did needed the rear dr side panel reconstructed. It had a blob of bondo and the metal was cracked. For that + rolling my fenders + welding the antenna and spoiler wholes with 6 coats of paint cost me no more than $3k.
