Finally got my FD3

Since I bought my car 6 weeks ago I havent been able to bring it home untill today as there has been so much paper work to clear. I started to forget how my car looked so I checked up on the posts everyday in this forum. Since then Ive read up alot on rotaries. Something I should have done before I bought the car. Oh well.

Anyway the first day I pick up my car it starts to snow so I havent had a chance to really try it out yet.

Dealers told me that it was a Ex Apexi demo car. Exactly what they did with it I dont know. Only apexi stuff on it I have seen so far is the SAFC2/Airfilters and ground wiring.

Here are some more pics Ive been wanting to take for along time. Any suggestions/feedback welcome.

PS... I need to fill up that hole in the gauge pod....
Already has Defi Boost and Water Temp...
3rd should be Oil Pressure?

what's the S stand for again, since i'm pretty sure the 3S is irrelevant in the US since all were "3S"... if you wanted to get even less repetitive the "F" would be out too, since they are all "F"... well, but for the SA.

"i have a "D""

oh yeah, the topic... nice car, looks like a 92/93 unless japan never got passanger air bags, with a 99 nose. really nice looking.

Congratulations on the purchase of your FD. Get an oil temperature gauge, and learn the car before you do other mods. Enjoy!

damn man, car looks sweet. Congradulations.

Why is the ground kit grounded to the plastic intake elbow though?

plate reads 'shinagawa' (city) - which is part of tokyo

looks like a 92/93 unless japan never got passanger air bags, with a 99 nose
upgraded bumper on a 95 model would be my guess - judging by the 'dolphin tail' spoiler (though that may also be an added upgrade)

nice, clean looking car. I have the same steering wheel on mine Is that a fan controller near the head unit? "Ex Apexi demo car" - I doubt it. You should check the ecu, just in case, though.

What's the full list of mods?

im going to bet that that dial thing next to the head unit is a controller for the light popup motors... bling bling.

when did japan get passanger air bags? or were they an option for some time? we got them in all 94/95's, and none in 93, so that's the easiest way to tell since noone i can think of.

Its most likely a 96-on...look at the shape of the holes for the fan speed, theyre ovals. Us 93-95 US guys have circles. At any rate, its a very clean car! Get an oil temp gauge to finish off the interior and have some fun!

i'm pretty sure its from somewhere between 94-98, the tach is different from the 93 FDs, in that it doesnt have the little tic marks. The tach also differs from the 99+ in that it doesnt start at 6 o clock (bottom of the tach).

when did japan get passanger air bags?
I've only ever seen them on 98- models, though they may have been an option earlier. Airbags are far less common in japan (compared to the US)

the tach is different from the 93 FDs, in that it doesnt have the little tic marks.
only type I JDM FDs (91-93) have those markings

The only thing that makes me think it might be a 95 (and not a 96-98) is that the owner has put the efini emblem back on the bumper.

Anyway, chopstix will let us know. And again, nice clean car.
