filters, PROS AND CONS

i work at autozone. i can get parts for cheaper(my discount) but that doesnt mean that i will load my car with shitty parts. i just bought a mobil 1 filter. what do you guys think about using one of these. i heard of the puro-something or other but we dont have that. i just want to know if OEM is not always the answer. what about fuel filters. we have deutch brand filters. i dont think i will buy one of those but you tell me. facts help too. not really just say so. i think i may go to OEM for this one. the filter is the same brand as STP for the Deutch. i cant get spark plugs though. thats a bummer. i heard i can through NAPA, does anyone have the part number for the platinums??? also wires??? its just that the mazda dealer charges a fortune. if anyone has facts on any of this please let me know. i will try and put a little more info on this later. oh yeah, i did a search already so dont get on me about this. i just didnt see what i wanted to know in the searches. thanks a lot

I use K&N they seem to work the best. K&N is like autometer. Everyone uses them from Drag cars to muscle cars to imports. there is a reason. The reason is is that they are good quality stuff without all the cool names like HKS, Greddy, Apex'i and such.

you had me going until you compared K&N to autometer. kidding. i know that they are widely used. what about other goodies. are know that autozone isnt exactly going to be a shop to get my parts. that is what the rx7 store is for. i may just get my plugs and wires through jason. i know that MSD is also widely used wires. how do they compare to OEM. what wires and why. also, i live in the central valley. stays warm as hell in the summer. what plugs should i use. i am going with the NGK platinums as i think 30.00/ plug for densos on a relatively stock 7 is a bit much. what heat range or do the plugs only come in stock range

Fram has poor filtration and no anti drainback valve.

OEM seems to do a great job and has anti drainback valve.

Pure One is similar to OEM but I think OEM filters better by a bit.

Mobile 1 and K&N are probably at least as good if not better than OEM. Of the two, I would take Mobil 1. Both are very costly at $10 ea.
