Feed Vented Hood . . . .
In my quest to make sure the FD i'm picking up doesn't self destruct i'm thinking about picking up a vented hood after i complete all reliability mods. The FEED hood looks like it would work great. Do you aerodynamics guys have any advice? Would a scoot style/knightsports style hood work or flow better? I like the FEED because it rains alot in FL and it looks like it would be great keeping the rain out compared to other hoods. Thanks.

Any vented hood you purchase will let rain in, as long as your driving at a relatively decent speed most of the time it's raining it shouldn't get into the engine bay too much. Most vented hoods come with rain vents as well. My Ad-9 hood did. Pretty much any vented hood you get will drop the underhood temps a fairly decent amount. I would say it also helps defuse the air that gets trapped in the engine bay with an unvented hood. The Scoot hood I believe may have been wind tunnel tested since they're all about top speed runs. The feed one is a good choice IMO since it's not too crazy looking and seems to be functional at the same time. The only bad thing about that hood is the price.

the FEED is very nice and i would say trust them... they REALLY seem to have their act together but yea, that price is a little steep. personally, never liked the scoot hood cause, well, i don't drive a viper... don't need the little nose inlet. what about the N1? its a reputable name and still has the "gill" look of the Scoot

I have a scoot and rarely drive in rain.. But one time I was coming back from Nashville, TN.. and it poured!! I mean it rained so hard that I could barely see.. After getting home, I saw very little water marks on my polished IC pipes.. And I didn't have my rain guard on.

The price of the hood isn't a concern to me; i belive if you're going to buy something buy what you want and don't settle for less especially if i could just save up for another 3-5 months and buy the feed instead of anything else. Thanks for your input guys; i'll post more tech oriented stuff when i actually pick it up in a week or two (First time vaccum line replacement, fun ).

I agree, that's why I got one. And you don't see them around too often, unlike the knockoff KS and Mazdaspeed hoods floating all over the place.

What is your proof? What is the coefficient of drag of the hood? What is the coefficient of lift at the front?
Or do you have a photo of an FD with a Scoot hood in a wind tunnel?

n.
1. A means of escape or release from confinement; an outlet: give vent to one's anger.
2. An opening permitting the escape of fumes, a liquid, a gas, or steam.
What do you think?

I have not seen any data on the FEED hood as far as underhood temp differences, but FEED typically makes VERY functional parts for the FD. To be honest, I haven't heard anyone complain about the lack of cooling aid from any vented hood available for the FD.

Thanks for the input. I'll either get the Feed or a Scoot replica; honestly, i don't think i really need a vented hood, i don't have too many mods, but i guess it's a good investment considering this FL heat. I'll post pics, sometime after x-mas, thanks.
