FEED style hood ● Engine Torque Damper ● NEO

Some thoughts about these 3 things...
● Feed style hood
● Engine torque damper
● Neo syntethic gear oil

Ok, let's make this quick.

Huge van backed into me - Fried hood & bumper etc - his insurance paid.
-Got the Feed style hood
-No bumper: 99spec on B.O.
-Neo are still in the bottle. Will do that next oil change while the car is on the lift.

Feed Style hood -

-Got a great deal on it.
-Quality: 1 of 10: (10 is best) 7 for me.
-It feels flimsy
-Thin carbon, you can see through when it up (see pic)
-Some minor fitment issue. Install is easy four bolts, but some minor gaps.
Car has never been on an accident or fenders have been removed. Everything is straight.
-Hood latch seems like it's going to go through the crispy crunch type cereal thickness hood.
-Coat is weak, about 20% dull
-Carbon looks light in color (Not sure if it's the coating or so)
I've seen other carbon hood/materials and they're much darker and looks like in a glass eye candy gloss. Kind of like this -- ]Carbon350z]
-Since it's really light, it jumps around sometimes.

-It's really light compared to the stock during installation - No weighing was done.
-The vents seem to work. My Temp dropped 3ºC
When the car is on idle, the hot air is felt coming out and some heat vapor is visible during idle/stop on a 45ºF or less weather.

Here's a thread with similar hood and did some 'test' and observation
[Another Feed style hood]

Well, I can't think of anything else.
I like it, it looks good on the car but the quality could be better.
I'll wash the car and maybe it'll get shinier, but I'm afraid of using chemicals on it. it might even get duller.

Recommendation?
- I would with some warnings.
- I wouldnt "highly" recommend it though mainly because of the quality and some slight fitment issues.

ETD: Engine Torque Damper -

-This thing works too.
If someone is going to install one, pay attention to the way the car starts, shifting etc. before and after installation. My mounts are fine. The aluminum pieces of the mounts were replaced with iron.

- Easy installation

VIBRATION - (I deleted it)
- I used some Australian kangaroo leather against the fender wall and rubber bushings all over. The bracket that attaches to the manifold has 2 holes. In case someone doesn't realize, they both need to be bolted on.

-it's adjustable.

2 things that lack Garfinkle's brace. Ease of installation and adjustable link. It's also solid. Some prefers with dampening.

I guess there's nothing more....

NEO Synthetic Gear Lube -

-No comments yet. Have not replaced the fluids.
..some other time.

OK, ENOUGH WITH THE NONSENSE -

PIX TIME - - - -

The old hood. WHO WANTS IT?

I guess the heatgun can work, but the aluminum upper stay/bumper retainer whatever you call it got damaged so the bumper takes the form of it.

The 'bumper tools' are just hydroulics.

Lan Garfinkle's ETB does have dampening. Notice where your Ebay peice has ball joints, Garfinkle's floats in the rubber just perfectly. Garfinkle's ETB is perfect for what it does.

I have the FEED hood also and must say that I would def. recommend hood pins and some grinding of the latch was required to allow it to fit in the latch catch.

i have the shine auto feed hood. except mine is the frp fibreglass
fitment is good except for the back corners of the hood near the windshield. the hood seems to sit higher then the fender line. yours looks like it does the same

the latch looks like its constructed of a piece of all-thread bar. less then impressive.

i can also vouch for the hood being a little under the flimsy side. it is light though. u can see it bouncing slightly while driving. i am not running any hood pins @ this time and have had no problems doin a couple 200km/hr pulls.

i also think the hood could use a little cleaning up on the underside where the inside layer is trimmed away.

the looks of the hood is definetly its strong point.

Just about the FEED hood.

Shaving the hood stops alittle completely solves the problem. I hate eBay.

^^
shaving the hood stops will let the back of the hood sit down?

the corners are high near the windshield where the hood bolts to the hinges

Nice pics, love hood. I have the RB etb and I think its about the same price. But if you're going 99 spec front, you need FEED front lamps too

if the hood is to high near de wind screen try this.

Put a spacer between the hood and de hinges
only between the 2 front bolds not the one closest to the wind screen
This will help the hinges to go down lower

FYI the FEED hood sits higher in the back because its meant to be used with the FEED front fenders. The fenders sit slightly higher in the back where the hood sits. It sits flush on my car but I have the Burnout fenders.
