Final did the "wool tuft" test on a FEED hood for the FD
Well, my M3 decided to blow the engine forcing me to get the 7 back on the road.
I somehow passed all of the Texas inspections and decided it was a good time to do the wool tuft test.
In a nutshell, the vent closest to the windshield sucks in air at all speeds. The vent farthest away will suck air in at slower speed but then above 30mph air flows out. Sooo what that means for actual cooling of the engine I have no idea....
I have gauges o'plenty but the car is running so cool now, I have to drive it like I am on the track to keep the coolant temp up. It's 34 degrees in Dallas right now.
Running Evans, Fluidyne, Dual oil coolers (but the thermostat has stayed close...oil temp only getting up to 120ish).
Pics below including the obligatory car pic

Not totally out of the unexpected.
Any air pressure under the hood would escape from the first vent.
The 2nd air would 'suck' in air as it is adjaced to a very high pressure zone in front of the windshield.
But very nice to see.
This should be done for 'all' vented hoods to see what is actually going on.
How the 2 vents aid/hamper cooling? who knows, I guess only measure temps would tell.

Yea, I wish I could tell how the temps react. I suspect that not much would change in truth. The weather is so cold now that I might be able to see a difference, more so then when its hot out.
Maybe if I get a chance I will swap my stock hood on and do some runs to see.

How are the coolant temps in slow/stopped traffic with this?? Is there a noticeable difference, or have you *just* gotten it installed and not yet had a chance to get stuck??
I plan on picking one of these hoods up in the spring (waiting on my BNR's to arrive, and my fuel upgrades, and bigger wheels so I can install my brakes, and... the list goes on. It's crazy how you can order something in mid November and still be waiting for it in mid January... lol) when I have built up some spare cash, beyond my "oh ****" safety bubble.
Thanks a bunch for posting your results!!

I have so many mods on the car that the engine runs pretty cold.
