Don't put all the money on performance, save some for a manual gearbox

I myself have a 94 auto and iam very happy with it. Yes you can make a auto very fast dont listen to everything you hear. Most of the people here that down the auto have never driven one let alone looked into moding one out. and yes there is a preety descent performance gap between the autos and the manuals this is slightly in part because A. it is a auto and B. mostly because the gears that come stock in the rear end of a auto are much taller then the ones that come in a manual. the gears in a auto are 3.90's the gears that come stock in a manual are 4.10's. if you swap the gears that come stock in a JDM rx7 which are even shorter 4.30's the performance should be about equal with the manual. And also if your looking into making serious power with the auto www.levelten.com makes everything youll need to make the auto trans hold that power. So dont be discouraged I know theres one guy on this forum thats making 400hp and he has a auto.

ahemm...let me qualify that by saying that I don't have a dyno sheet to back that up, but that with my setup at 20psi I should be around 400. Thanks for the vote of confidence though-and you're right, autos can be made to be very fast, but it ain't cheap lemme tell ya. Dollar for dollar the 5 speed guys DO get more bang for the buck.
