Question the fd's best & worst features?

for me...

best: by far is its body design...still looks great after all these years. a true classic.

worst: the door handles...they seem cheap and are troublesome. the look & location to the outside handles are great tho. the operation & feel is what bothers me.

what do you do you like & dislike the most?

Best: Looks, handling, how the driver feels in the cockpit
Worst: price of ownership. Not really refering to money either

Pros: Fun factor , handling , potential , looks , driver position / gauges / view , sound , balance , aftermarket support

Cons: reliability compared to some pistony type engines , interior plastics , cut corners with the cooling , parts availability , added maintenance PINTA . economy , need for flurry of bandaids to make car reliable

I'm going to quote myself here.

"The FD is good at three things: going fast, taking turns, and looking good. Everything else sucks."

The best: Looks. Handling. Feel. Potential for modification.

The worst: Hard to work on. Short engine life. Heats up too easily. Cant take it when it does heat up. Leaks easily and often, and from lots of different places. Gas mileage sucks. Hard to smog. Shortage of competent mechanics......................

I actually like the 94 interior. Most of it is holding up pretty well.

I don't get why there's so much complaining about the interiors. Sure, they're bad by today's standards, but compared to most 90's interiors I'd say its pretty good, especially the layout, but perhaps that's because I don't stare at 93 plastics, or I'm just blinded by bias?

Pro's
Handling
Interior layout
Body design
Engine
Uniqueness
Sound

Cons
Factory cooling system
Being mildly paranoid that it will become rebuild time with little advanced notice.

Best - looks, handling, torque response from standard engine
worst - interior build quality, fuel consumption($9/gallon in the UK )

Jap interiors are never great, but at least 90s Toyotas and Hondas had solidly built interiors.

No tilt wheel, no cup holder and the limitations of the stock ecu.

Other than that she is perfect.

To those complaining about comfort and reliability I'm betting few have driven a low mileage nearly stock FD. It's one of the quietest, smoothest and comfortable sport cars to ride in. Most of you are driving heavily modified or hacked FDs. I have a bone stock 27k mile car right now that is about as quiet as a Prius.

Looks: Nothing I've ever seen looks better...........even cars like the carrera GT don't give me the same fuzzy feelings there is just something magical about this car at certain angles that nothing I've seen can surpass and there are those times I look at it say to myself it's not that special but when I take two steps in any direction and look again I'll be like WTF this car is BADASS!!!!

Handling: Nothing I've ever driven feels better

Interior: Nothing I've ever sat in fits me better or gives me that all business pilot sensation

Engine: Coolest engine ever invented. It responds to mods like nothing else and makes more power than any other engine per liter by a LONG shot. When it's right it just feels so RIGHT and when it's wrong you are obsessed with making it right to get that loving feeling back because it's so addictive.

Sounds: OH THE SOUNDS, this car has more personality than my cat and is a close second to the wife which is really saying something LOL

I could go on and on............and as we all know there are lots of things that need improvement but with basic bolt ons there's still nothing I've driven that I enjoy daily driving or tracking more and that's saying a hell of lot considering this car is 20 plus years old. Fortunately I can afford to drive most any car out there and yet this is what I drive into work and track

If I test drive a new m3 I'm like seriously this is it. The GT3 is super cool but way too soft and needs to really be wound out to enjoy similar to an S2K. Hop back in my TT 300 rwhp FD and floor it through 1st and 2nd and I'm like GD that feels frikken COOL!!!!!

I could write a book

i agree , my mkiv supra 93 has much more solid interior compared to the FD. Toyota interior was much more quieter and reliable.

on the fd the door skins feels cheap and hollow, all the plastic flex or scartches...clips break every time you remove them.... i've taking my supra interior out many time and not 1 clip ever breaks!

The MK4 has a more solid interior sure. However, it is also one of the most hideous dash designs of all times. I'm actually looking for one as a daily right now so I don't hate the car but the interior is on par with a mid 90s work truck.
