It depends what kind of water it was under , fresh or salt and if they drained the fluids shortly after it happend. From the looks of the car it looks like it was pulled out of a river and left . Not much in the line of trying to salvage it. Id bet the motor , tranny , tank etc is still full of water. It doesnt take long for it to start rusting internally and totally locking up. ITs a chance you take when you buy something like this. I bought a flood damaged 03 mustang , it had been sitting for 3 months before I got it and was locked up solid . I filled the cylinders with atf and drained the motor , new oil , let it sit for a while and then rocked the motor back and forth at the crank pulley until it freed up . It ended up running great.

I agree to some extent. I've seen this happen before where cars have been resurected. It's going to take a bunch of man hours to get the car sorted out. Who knows how much in parts. Be better off buying one that runs or use it as a parts car stricktly.

I was thinking less than half that. Most mechanicals, all electrical and anything upholstered are going to be VERY questionable, even if it was fresh water. And I personally wouldn't consider trying to salvage it. Parts car.

Yup. I'm looking at this structly for parts only. I'm being quoted real cheap (1.5-2k USD) for the front clip. This include the rims. I am kinda hesitant coz i gotta place a booking fee upfront. Take me chances?

What parts are you looking for? What's your overall goal with the parts? This really isn't a question we can answer. You should know what parts you need and how much they cost new. If you can slavage the parts from this car for MUCH less than that, then it's a good deal.

The body looks in alright shape though , why would they sell just the clip? You could use the body to repair a wrecked one , the body is probably the best part of the car.

Anything plastic and anything aluminum should still be good. But that doesn't leave much.

If it's fresh water flooding, and the people took measures to minimize the damage, it could be quite salvageable. But you'll need to test/replace/inspect/clean/rebuild a lot of stuff. Unless you're looking for a project car, and don't mind taking a risk, I say don't bother.

Are you kidding me? I would buy that for that $. The car looks like it's in great shape. Who cares if it has water damage. Remove the engine and rebuild it! That car is way salvagable. Replace the rug, seats, maybe the gauges and instumentation, if you have to, and you're 50% there. The actual wires and plugs should all be fine. If you have to replace the ECU, upgrade it. I'm sure there is no problem with rust because the body and suspension are all aluminium. Just clean it up, replace what you have to, and you have a bad-*** FD with a '99 spec front end. I personally hate the right side driver config. That would be a pain in the *** to change. But if you're one of those JDM super freaks, you might like it.

True...true. The thing is i bought a 2002 front clip for MYR15k which equates to USD4k. This JDM importer tells me bout this and i get to thinking of buying it and maybe removing parts for future use.For starters the front spec bumper and lights. The thing is i have never ever bought anything in this condition. Very tempting then again it could be totally useless. Just received word from Japan --> ENgine is jammed. No other info.
