FD wont start (not even a push start)

Hello,

Firstly, I tried to pushstart my FD the other day, thinking that might do the trick. however, this didnt help.

It didnt even come close to starting. As soon as a popped the clutch, it just immediately died, no increase in RPM.

On my PFC, it shows my injector duties look ok, so I dont think this is the issue. What else could I check? Cranking power is fine, it cranks well and sounds healthy, but it never builds any power to start.

yea, it seems like it might be flooded.

I had an FC and this problem happened a lot. I had to do the "pull EGI fuse" trick and it worked a lot. Is there something similar on the FD to cut fuel but still allow cranking?

Pull the fuel pump relay and spark plugs.
Crank the engine over with the throttle wide open in 10-15sec intervals until there is no more fuel vapor coming out of the spark plug holes.
Clean off the spark plugs and put them back in, or if they're really fouled, put in new ones.
Fuel pump relay back in.
Start.

I had the same problem a few months ago. I thought it was flooded, did the unflood procedure, but no success. It ended up being the vacuum line to the MAP sensor popped off. Give that a check.

I tried doing the full deflooding procedure (taking plugs out and cranking for 15secs).

No success. The map sensor is plugged in.

One thing I noticed is the boost never changed from -40 mmHg on the PFC . Maybe this is a vacuum line or something? im out of ideas

Unplugged map hose won't cause your car to not start. It will just idle really rough.

I still believe its flooded. That or you need a jump. Trust me, there have been times where it sounds like im getting good cranking power, then i have someone put jumper cables and it started first try.

Also, i dont think its a vacuum hose, your car would start but shut off after a few seconds.

first two steps: check fuel, check spark. make sure that you are getting both.

try the ATF trick to get it unflooded. You can either pour it in the spark-plug holes or use a squirt can to inject it into the LIM via one of the vac nipples on the UIM (like where your boost gauge is plugged into).

I am no expert on this, but the constant -40mm Hg reading (pegged at greater than full vacuum) indicates to me that your ECU's MAP sensor electrical connection circuit is shorted or open circuit.

That would cause the fuel mixture to be so far off it wouldn't run.

Was it running then died, or you were just trying to start it one day? I agree w/ wrankin. Check for the spark, you'll have the plugs out anyhow to unflood it!
