Fd vs. Gto
Hey guys, I have a 93 R1 with a CB, DP, APEXI air intake, and boost gauge. There is a guy in my town with a 04 GTO who wants to race me, do you think that I can take him, I never seen a gto drive fast and have no clue how fast they are. Also, since im like the only guy into with anykind of import everyone says im gonna lose. What do you guys think, BE Honest!

Look at the spec on the new ones they are laughable... That thing is so heavy it would sink an airplane carrier.
If your car is healthy you will mop the floor with him. SERIOUSLY.
EDIT-wait a minute. You said GTO in my mind I was thinking DODGE CHARGER.... My bad

Eh..I'm only 20 and own an FD...I pay for it myself, though. Ain't cheap, but worth every penny. :P
My friend's dad has a new GTO 6-speed also. They're quick, but I have a feeling I'd womp him, except from maybe a complete stop.
If you're having boost problems, I suggest checking all your solenoids, lines, check for leaks, or lines that have hardened and potentially cracked. If everything else is stock besides the mods you listed, you shouldn't be spiking that bad.
How high does it spike to? I had the same problem with mine, and I ended up going non-sequential. Not really a SOLUTION to the problem, but a temporary fix nonetheless, and alot less headache IMO. A Power FC w/ Commander would be good for you...and me.. :P

Thanks for the advice, and the boost spikes up to like 14 and above. I bought the engine from a guy who parted out his Fd (due to wreck) and he said it was a reman. and was put in like 5k miles before I bought it. but the more I think about it, I think I got screwed.

8-10 psi huh... If you were runing a true 10 psi then you should easily take him.
04 GTO 350 Flywheel HP and at 3725 lbs = a pig.

Well based on pure power to weight ratio you need to make 280 flywheel hp to have the same power to weight ratio as the 04 GTO. So it may be close but, I'd bet on the GTO due to the torque advantage it has.
If it was a 05 with the LS2 it wouldn't be close at all.

If you spiking past 14 psi and haven't blown it yet I don't think you got screwed...

Sure it weighs alot but not enough to make up the 100+ hp your down by.

Actually, im pretty sure that the 04 GTOs have a LS1 and have 350hp. I know that the 06 Gtos have a LS2 and 400hp, but im dealin with a 04. I may be wrong about this, so if I am correct me.

Im planning on gettin a boost controller, but lately my car has been acting different. My best guess would be that the compression is low or somethin.
