Fd vs. Gto
some advice... before you race anything get the car fixed... b/c that one race could cost you your motor if youre spiking that badly.
two, i hope you take the race to the track... not tryin to be your dad, but you dont want to risk jail time just for some bragging rights.

Awesome...3rd bench racing post this week. Are you racing for PiNkS yO? What have you got to lose? Just race the guy and stop wasting space with these dumb posts. And if your car breaks, serves you right.

hey, this is an open discussion. Why do you got to hate on people. This post wasn't started about my cars condition. It was started because I wondered if a slightly modded Fd could beat a gto.

Ofcourse, the boost controller for a solid boost is a must. its not worth blowing ur motor because of pride
but I'd say, do some research, and practice ur launch. W/ a good launch, u can take him no problem. and don't mis-shift

you should search the kills section for your answer. i'd say its pretty hard to judge exactly what every FD is running stock because they are so old. doesnt sound like yours is running 255hp right now. my guess would be that GTO is running closer to the numbers in the magazine at the moment because its new.
get your baby healthy first!

Hey I got my FD at 20, There is a lot more 17-20 somethings with great paying jobs out there that people think. and 15K isnt that much to spend for a car.
About the GTO, with your mods, it would be close aginst an LS2. I have only been up aginst one GTO, the 03-04 LS1 model. and I pulled about two car lengths before I hit second gear. But, it did take him forever to shift into third so my win was more due to his driver error, than my FD being that much faster.
If you can drive, and hit your shifts then you should be around a length infront at the end of a 1/4, thats with your mods. If you really want to embarris him, take him to a road track and race, and watch how the 3800lb GTO bounces around the track.

2004 Pontiac GTO LS1 0-60 5.3 1/4 mile 13.8. It would be an even race.
You don't have enough driving experience to race anyone.
If you want to race, take it to the track where you can kill him or yourself, safely.

Assuming the gto is stock you should beat him. If he's modded you will probly lose ls1's with nitrous should be feared. It would not be hard for him to spray a hundred shot if he's set on beating you, the only way to find out is race if you lose you lose. I have a stock auto and got beat by a ******* turbo miata, talk about emabarrasing. Found out later that I was not prespooling then only getting 6psi on my secondary, if you lose for any reason you'll have to deal with the **** talking a wins a win right?

Yeah, The guys GTO is all stock besides an aftermarket exhaust. Plus, I think that my apex seals may be blown(low compression), but im not sure. If that is the case then im gonna prolly buy a street ported engine with the 3mm seals. But as of now, i dont think im gonna race the guy. I wanna get my car healthy.

Autometer boost gauges measure vacuum in inches of mercury.
Timmy, does your gauge measure vacuum or just boost? If it measures vacuum, let the car warm up and (as jxy nyc has already said) see how many inches of vacuum you have at idle.
