FD vs. 2003 RSX Type R

sorry if this post is annoying, but i just read the whole thread about an FD vs. an Type R Integra..........and i was thinking that since the RSX, which is the integra's replacement model has a different engine other than the B series motors...........would that be more competition?

which one is better FD vs. RSX Type R? (modded or not)

better at what? fitting more people/attracting less attention/possibly even reliability? RSX ... anything performance-wise or lookwise? FD

Who knows the specs for the RSX-R? If the RSX-S does the 1/4 in mid 14's then I suspect the RSX-R does it in low 14's or better.

The R is spec'd at another 20hp for 220hp total vs. the 200hp rsx-s

well so far the rsx has proven to be pretty unreliable. we have replaced a lot of motors at the dealership I work at. Lots of bent valves as well. most of htis is due to kids reaming the **** out of them, There wasnt near the problem with older b-series motors. And there are a whole lot of kids out over revving and tearing those up.

Found these stats:

Year 2003
Make Acura
Model RSX
Trim Type-R (Jap)
Transmission 6-speed Manual
Top Speed : 150
0-30 mph : 2.3 s
0-60 mph : 6 s
1/4 mile : 14.7 s @ 97.5 mph

So its closer to an FD stock performance but still not there. Little slower off the line and gives a little up top but midrange should be somewhat close.

Those look like the numbers for the RSX-S, not the RSX-R.

Not sure why you would think that but they're obviously for the Type R. With just 20hp and some other changes, the Type R isn't going to be that much faster than the Type S. By comparison, C+D had a 0-60 of 6.3 for the Type S with a 15.0 1/4 and a 139 top end. R+T had a 6.7sec 0-60 for the Type S with a 15.2/92.7 1/4 and a 145 top speed.

Personally, I think the driving experiience is more important than raw numbers and is an area where the Type R models have always excelled.

the "RSX type S" has the new j-spec civic type-r motor and the j-spec ItR has an engine that we won't see for a long time. both k-series not b.

as for performance...FD!!! it's kind of weird people will post up this kind of thread...not stupid but strange...we are talking about FD here...different classes well.

ok ok ok, but why FD...front-mid setup, engine sits lower; naturally making the car's shape to be low as well. rear wheel drive! Why RWD, you have mild understeer and option to change that into over-steer! Also 50-50 f/r ratio...too many things...you say it's just a thought put into a car. well it's proven it-self and going stronger in Japan as a time attack car.

there is no such thing as an RSX type R. we have an RSX type S over here, which is not the equivalent of a type R integra at all. there are indications that honda may bring over the type r within one or two years tho.

its attitudes like that that almost make me not want to buy an FD. I still hold out hope that some of you are not like this.

You obviously don't know how to drive then. I have one of those cars and I kill people EVERY DAY with it. Granted, it's not as fast as either of my RX-7s, but it moves pretty good for a front drive econo-sport.

Please tell me more about the failures you see...

I drive mine (Type S) to just shy of the rev limiter every day. Been doing it for 15K miles so far, and other than burning a little oil have noticed no ill effects.

Damn u guys cant even take a joke!

Obviously Acura/Honda makes some damn fine cars (NSX, S2000, TL 3.2, Integra, etc)

And you think FD owners are stuck up and irrational? Go visit some of the honda boards, its not even funny

Point is, your posting on a Rx-7 forum WTF do u expect?

There is nothing wrong about sticking up for a good car (which the ITR certainly is) but that doesnt mean it should be "reclassed" with cars that are outa its league.

The ITR "belongs" with the WRX, Miata, RSX, EnVo, etc.

The 3rd Gen OWNED SCCA and Autocross from 1993 until the Corvette Z06 came out. And still after 10 years is very competitive.

I dont think I've ever even seen or heard about the ITR dominating or even competing in SCCA or Autocross events. Again maybe this is because Im not interested in them.

Do you have problems reading? That 14.7 was for a Type R, not an S. Stupid Troll.
