Maximum miles I've received on a tank was ~380 mostly highway. Typical miles per tank nowadays is 330 with much city and some highway.

No paper race -
Fact 1 - It's 40K plus for the new vette.
Fact 2 - There will be many thousands of them produced before the C7 appears.
So for about the same money you can have 2 very well prepared 3rd gens. One as your daily driver and one as a "play toy" with money left for tires, track days, etc. Best of all you will rarely see another one on the road. It still amazes me that an 11 year old car can still get the second looks that mine does every day.
Fact 3 - The Z06 will outrun a 3rd gen given an equal level of driver and modifications.
Yea, but it is not 2X faster than the 3rd gen by a long margin.

The FD price back when it was out was nearing $40k new. Today, that price would be well over $50k new.

The Grassroots Motorsports Challenge proves that it is very easy to go very fast very cheaply. However not even the builders of those cars would argue with anyone claiming that it takes more than numbers on paper to make a car "better" than another...

I bought one of my 3rd gens new in '93 so I know it has not been "beat on".
It cost me 29K and change.
My second was a one owner car that I bought with 68K miles from a doctor who kept great maintenace records. If it was "beaten on", it was not by him (he did have a teen age son though). Both of these cars now have over 100k miles on them. One is my daily driver.
Two old cars can be as reliable and almost as fast as one new one and look Ma no monthly payment.

Jim, I guess I didn't speculate the situation properly before you and Adam C jumped the thread. A 45 minute wait through stop and go traffic at the border, and another 45 minute wait through stop and go through an accident site 30 miles from Columbus. The full tank cost me $47 some odd dollars Canadian, and I was on empty when I got there so I don't know how close I was, but, I didn't fill up. I would LOVE to see the Vette drive the same run through the same traffic(6 hours) on one tank of gas. I guess this is really important to you to look it up on mapquest though....but you don't have my real address, it's a little further than what you read.
And how come, all Adam C does is jump threads? If you're not here to help people, then go on some dating chat forums. I can't stand seeing people gang up on others, but one day if you keep drinking your milk you can grow up and fend for yourself. Until then, why don't you keep your insulting comments to yourself you ignorant *****!
