Hey Club,
Just got an MS shifter off a member. Super good price, so I'm happy with that. However, 2 of the paper gaskets are ripped, so I will have to make/buy new ones.
3 of the prongs on the wave washer are a little iffy

Here are the items I do have:



I assume I could just reuse most of what's on my stock shifter? I ordered an aluminum shifter collar that fits on the bottom of the ball. But as for everything else, I'm not so sure what I would need.
Also, how would I extract the bushing + washer above the ball? Do I have to remove the grove bushing on the side of the shifter ball?

Would this fulfill my needs?

atkins also has a kit that i used on my car. its comes with all the pieces you need and the bottom shifter bushing is aluminum.

Thanks for the responses, and yea I was reading the mazdatrix page prior to posting. I will buy the lower bushing set. Does anyone know how to take off the top bushing and shim?

im pretty sure that has be slid off from the top. like you have to strip the shifter down to nothing and slide them off the top. its not covered in that link that natey posted?

Those parts from Atkins are correct. You'll probably also need the inner shift boot -



This keeps the whole bushing stack all together and keeps the gear oil down in the gearbox. Also keeps crap out that can chew up the bushings.

Put a little grease on it, and slide it upward. The rubber boot will stretch (unless the rubber is too old) over the top.

Just an FYI... you can use the inner shift boot from an NC miata (part # R501-17-47Z) instead of the older rx-7 specific boot. It is a $12 part instead of $45... every little bit of savings helps when buying a ton of parts to restore these cars.
