CT FD parts for restore

I own a 94 Touring, white with auto and factory chrome wheels. Motor went at around 100k as usually happens with rotaries (coincidentally a few months after I bought it at 98K). Put a new motor in it along with turbos (which dealer probably screwed me on because I think they were fine going in) and drove it for about another 11k miles, then put it in storage. It's been sitting in storage for probably 10 years. I'm looking to restore it again and drive it for a bit, then probably sell it. It currently turns over (with a new battery now) but doesn't start, which I half expected. Plan is to remove the plugs, spray (Lucas Oil) upper cylinder lube, crank it over a bit to lubricate the seals. Then put in new plugs and try to start it so I can drive it a few miles to my house for an oil change and finish tune. I've added new gas and fuel treatment, any other suggestions?

Parts I know I need are door panels, Bose stereo, and I'm sure I'll need to do the struts. Any leads on door panels and Bose stereo/door speakers?

Thanks,
Kevin

You may want to post this up in the FD areas of the Marketplace section. You'll get more exposure there.

There are couple of original Bose stereos on eBay but pretty pricey.
Door speakers were used in many cars, eBay has a lot of them, i bough one from Audi A6 and its the same just has blue cone.

Leave the Bose restore to the next owner maybe. Many remove it in any event. It sa matter of taste.

Stereo technology has come a long way, so any perceived benefit of the fancy system may not be realistic.

Period head units from Miata may be a cheaper substitute. Miata's had a bose system too (CD/Cassette combo) but not the rear speaker sections.

I got my period correct radio for $5 from a Protege. Just sa\yin....

Why not tow it to your garage. Why risk breaking something until you do the refurb?

What colour was the coolant, btw?

BTW. Dont chuck any of your interior parts no matter how broken they may seem. A passenger side interior door pul handle might cost you US$350, for instance.

Crazy glue is your friend my friend.

Expect to pay US$250 for door panels if you are lucky.

By the same token be extremely careful when removing any interior parts for any reason.

Dont force anything.

If it is resisting. Stop and figure out why.

Dont yank anything.

Also those aren't factory chrome wheels. Some sort of aftermarket wheels on the car there. The regular 16" stock FD wheels were available as a chrome option but those wheels don't hold up well, most have chrome flaking at this point.

Lots of info on the forum on reviving a car that has sat a long time. Go slow and get it going again. Also remember it's worth really good money as it sits so if you don't have the time/money/energy to work on it there's going to be a buyer out there that will pay good money.

So you're saying they are MAZDA aftermarket? I respectfully disagree since they had center caps that said "Mazda". Hope I still have them somewhere, but they were definitely Mazda chrome rims They have alot of oxidation, but hopefully I can get that removed. Just frustrated right now. I lubricated the chambers, turned it over to blow out the excess, put in new plugs and battery. It's turning over good but no sign of combustion. Seems like no spark or gas, one or the other. I'm sure I'll get there.

They may have been made for some other Mazda, those particular wheels weren't an option or anything for the FD. Nothing wrong with that, but just know the origin of them. I would also find out the size/offset, some other wheels are actually narrower than stock wheels which is terrible for handling. Stock wheels are 16x8.

If it has sat that long, quite possible the gas is VERY bad in the tank and also possible you have a rusted fuel pump. Very common problem. Hopefully the gas tank isn't full of rust as well.

Not an actual match. But shows that prior models may have had similar wheels.
