only owned the car a few weeks, live in south dakota. car ran fine with just a slight idle problem, prev. owner said either the tps or intake gasket. i parked the car one night and left it for a few days and now it wont start. put in new plugs and still wont start, tries, but just wont. what do i do. would the tps prevent the car from starting?? any help is good help, thanks

The TPS shouldn't prevent it from starting. When you changed plugs, were the old ones soaked in fuel?

Flooding is the most common reason for not starting.

Did you get a compression test done on the car before you bought it?

 

no i didnt have the comp. tested, i figured with the condition of the car and how well it was taken care of id have no worries, and ya i the old plugs were soaked, i removed em, took out the fuel pump fuse, and turned it over for a few seconds to clean out the excess fuel, and then put new plugs in and still no luck. tested the plug wires and one of the leading was getting no spark. the plug wire melted to the leading coil and its shot, so i ordered a new coil and wires, if thats not it then i dont know?

 

Check the MAP sensor, its on the firewall near the master cylinder, it says MAP sensor on the top, its about the size of a small matchbox.

 

Hey Wes, your retarded. My advice would be to take the engine out, rebuild and port it, then ditch the factory computer and buy a haltech or something. That should fix your problem. And also you need to ditch the stock twins. If this doesnt fix it then post again, but no more stupid questions until then....

Yes, the TPS being off can prevent the car from starting. The narrow range of the TPS may need to be adjusted. F-182 of the manual or look here.

wtf are u talkin about? My car runs fine dumbass....last time it didnt was last summer. O and btw, grace might get a subaru, and I know you have problems racing them, so u better get something done to your car before you loose to another girl's subaru.
