Unhappy FD Just got hit in a freak accident. need help, suggestions.

Not sure if this was best section or in interior / exterior etc. Trust it will be moved if needed!

My FD was just hit in a freak 4 car highway accident in CT on I-95. Basically a greyhound bus t-boned a lexus at highway speeds, momentum sent lexus into me in the left lane where it smashed into my front passenger side. Police determined it was the lexus's fault for suddenly changing lanes. Thankfully no fatalities considering the speeds at which the impacts occurred. External damage to my car looks to be smashed front fender and bumper but could be more...car would not restart after being shut off, might have frame damage. Need to get my car from where they towed it to a body shop pronto. Insurance appraiser will be coming, and I want to have someone on "my side" there too. I'm in the NY, NJ, PA area. Do you know of a shop that specializes in FD's?

What about other considerations? Is there something else that I should be looking out for as I continue through the process of getting my car back into shape? Any advice on handling insurance inspections and the process? Never been in an accident before. How would things proceed if I need engine restoration work too? Would that HAVE to be done at same location as body work? Sorry for newb questions, just flustered and still a bit shaken from near death experience, AND trying to get the questions out there since time is of the essence.

Thanks in advance,
-Steve

Ask around in your area (using regional forum) for the BEST body shops around. Take your car there. Do NOT use the insurance "approved" shops, which are, typically, crap. Once you find a good body shop, you don't need to worry about anything else about the repair.

Since you also have mechanical difficulties, you will also need to have a good rotary shop assess any damage to the mechanicals. This is a separate repair covered under insurance.

Do not take any **** from the insurance company, because they will try to hard ball you to use one of their "approved" shops.

Sorry to hear about your accident, I'm sure you're glad to be unhurt and frustrated about your car. Good luck.
