First off I searched. Couple threads about a FB and some guy broke his key off in the ignition. So here goes.

Hi all.

Well my FD came today, though without a key.

The steering wheel is locked atm and its making it a bitch to get around on my gravel driveway.

I have the casing off of the steering column but can't seem to find a pin.

I'd rather not punch the ignition at this point, as I might not change the locks and such later on.

Help is much appreciated!

Also, if someone could give a general idea of where to push inside the key slot with something that'd help as well. Like I said, just don't want to punch the ignition as of yet.

try pulling to the left and then turn you ignition on

 

You may be able to get a key thru your local Mazda dealer. It's possible that they may be able to order a key if you get them the VIN, and prove you own the car.

 

I think before I'd modify something on the car, I'd just wait to get my hands on the actual key. Surely you didnt buy a car without a key?

Wait until you get the key- geesh. You'll end up breaking something

 

on the column there is what looks like 2 screws holding it on. take a dremel and cut a slice into them for fit your favorite flat head screwdriver. unscrew and voila.

So this was the CYM katrina flood car you you were trying to sell? That would suck if someone actually bought it from you and you didnt have a key to give them.

 

My son broke the last key I had. And I was able to get two new OEM keys from Ray at Malloy in just a couple of days. All I had to do was fax my identification and proof of ownership.
