Thumbs up FD got yelled at

So post here if your FD got "nice car" yelled at it today for no reason just chilling in traffic. After seriously more than 15 years, I think this model should seriously get some kind of award. Most of us are trying to keep out of the condition that the cars would need body work so to get all these compliments all the time I think is quite flattering... makes me want to get a factory paintjob.. **** it let them sweat a 15 year old factory lick... you with me here?

it is crazy. i remember at one of our meets years ago a guy in a new f360 pulled up to check out our cars, it is something else the way they draw attention.

washed and waxed my car yesterday and got a 'cleanest RX-7 I have ever seen" comment in addition to a few nods and someone complimenting and chatting at the gas station

of course the sad side to this story is that all the aforementioned characters were men

Whenever someone sees mine they say it must be a chick magnet. I just laugh and shake my head, then laugh again even harder.

My 8 year old daughter always asks' "Daddy, why does everybody always roll down their window to talk to you when we ride in your race car?" Have to say I love it but didn't expect it in this car. Out of all of the sports cars I've owned, Porsche and BMW, this is the only one that keeps me at the gas station answering questions. Hey Mazda, don't screw up the next generation please.

I always hear this at the gas pumps,
"What is that?", then,
"Is it new?"

Forget trying to explain to them, it's a rotary!!
"How many cylinders does it have?"

This is probably one reason why I'll never own an FD is because i would completely screw with everybody asking me about the engine. I'd tell them it had 12 cylinders or like 2 1/2. Just make up stuff on the spot.

I cry every time I get a comment because it's not from a girl. The only time I've gotten a compliment on my car by a girl is by my friend's sister and it was indirect too.

Yesterday I got some nice comments from a guy, he did like the car but didn't believe mine is 16 years old, after that he started arguing that Miata's also have rotaries. When he couldn't win that he started guessing what an FD would cost, he guessed about 1/3rd of what I actually paid and I got mine cheap...

Exclamation

"nice car"... this would be rather a boring comment compared to these I get when Iīm driving through stuttgart at Saturday night. Most times I hear some:

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh uiuiui... yeahhhhh man woooooo come one .. rev it rev it!! wooooo yeahhhhhh iiiiiiiiiiiiii yeahhhhhhhh!!! Man DAMN!!!! woohoooooo NICE!!! OMG yiiiiiihaaaaaaaa!!! Uiiiiiiiiii . claping in their hands and almost falling out of their own car windows.

Out of every third car which drives beside me. Most of the time my co driver has to deal with all these freaks cause I have a RHD and so heīs sitting on the traffic side! .

But I give a damn... I think itīs the most beatiful car in the world... they can say and think what they want!... If they want to see a racing, posing bling bling Rx7... go and buy the FATF DvD but leave me alone!

I make these experiences all the time. They donīt know anything about the engine, they donīt know anything about the cars age and they donīt know anything about the price.

But talking about it like an expert... thats what they can.

The best was a guy who said to me that the RX8 is now much better than the Rx7 because the Rx8 has an 8 Rotor ...

Maybe crosswise in the trunk directly mounted to the wheels with two ORC twin plate clutches without transmission reving 50 000 rpm

Had a 95 and 96 corvette in a span of 4 years. Never got one compliment from drivers except other corvette owners with the wave. I get an RX7 and people take pictures, kids freak, women scratch their heads and say "Is that a Mitsubishi?" Old people like it too. Car people dig it.

LOL @ not used to it yet.... it was down for over a month, could have a lot to do with it. I just posted that because the girl at the auto parts store came outside to see my "Maserati". I jokingly call my Rx-7 "Mazdarati" sometimes but this lady was serious. By the replies it seems things haven't changed... I just thought that maybe we'd get a lot of comments for the first 10 years or so, then it would wear off (like a C5 body style that is still gorgeous but nothing special these days.

These type of threads are waay played out, but it honestly catches me off guard when a total stanger bust out with a conversation because of the car. I think we deserve the occasional good feeling after all we have to put up with to keep them running. So for the millionth time, good job Mazda and here's to hoping the "new one" will look as crazy. The Rx-8 was a hell of a try, I love it but we need something more "FD-ish". Smaller, sexier, more agressive (those words define the looks of and FD to me)
