I like it!! I wonder if it would do the job as well as an aluminum one would. It would suck to buy it, put it on, and melt it.

carbon fiber alone will not hold up and burn away..but with the resin which this is it will hold up to heat just fine..most carbon fiber products are combinations of kevlar which give them that classic weave look..this makes the carbonfiber strong yet flexible. i woulndt worry too much about the piece melting..

Well it looks like the company that makes these makes them for the GTR, RX7 and all kinds of other cars. I just cant find that much info on them...

Black99, its for sale on Yahoo Auction over here in Japan. Maybe I can help you out or anyone that might like it. As far as I know there is only one, and first person that bid $85 gets it, and the guy wont sell it for less then $85.. So I think he wants $85 haha

RIKKI YOU THE MAN!!

Also a little about Carbon Fiber... Carbon fiber will burn just like Aluminum, or just about anything else. It just takes extreme heat.. More then your exhaust puts out, even if you shoot fire *****. Also carbon fiber when done properly, likes to deflect heat and fire actually..

I would kind of like to see one of these in Titanium... BUT what a pain in the butt, Titanium is...!

The only problem with CF and extreme heat is that it might 'yellow'. Back when I had motorcycles, there were problems with some CF exhaust canisters doing this. Sould be fine in this application, as long as you are not throwing flames all the time, hehe.

I would think its ok for the exhaust shield though. We have carbon fiber right on JET engines, if not very close and we dont have any problems. I wonder it that Yellow of the carbon was from too much Resin, because that can do it, it would be like getting a 3rd degree burn, your skin isnt messed up, just the color has changed a little. It wont catch on fire though, but the resin can get a little yellow from almost like a melting effect..

Oh since we are on the subject on composite material, only for the GTR for right now, but coming soon. It kevlar/carbon fiber intercooler piping. JUST FOR INFO, unless you guys already know about this..

I've seen the guard before in various forms. From a sheet of metal to a product similar to this.

Carbon fiber does burn. Also, the resin will yellow over time. This is a fact and it will happen.

However, the only thing I can think of to help your bumper from melting would be to have a layer of nomex added to the back of the guard. That would help w/ the heat.

Guys I cant find it anywhere on who makes them.....

DOMFD3S, how do you know as a fact it will burn and it will yellow? Carbon fiber burns but you wont get it lit even with a lighter, unless you do it for a long time. Also it will we are seeing that is will only yellow, if the resin put on what not vaccumed properly and heat treated..

DomFD3S is right on. Nomex fibers are the only way to go - this, and a little bit of relective insulation behind them would keep that plastic in a solid state. Ceramic ain't bad either but $$. It works for the space shuttle.

Can anyone say $500 custom heat shield? I CAN!

Looks like a KSP Engineering/Attain GT Bumper guard.
http://www.ksp-eng.co.jp/ATTAIN/menu2/5.html

0Piston has one and it's nice looking. You will need to find a way to attach it yourself as it's only a cover with no mounting points. FWIW, it won't work w/ my RE-Amemiya rear diffuser.
